Automatic Shutdown

Does anyone know how to schedule automatic shutdowns, and have it ignore the "are you sure you want to exit" messages from apps that are running? I use this line currently "C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE user.exe,exitwindows". Thanks

im not sure there are automatic shutdowns... why would you want to automattically shut it down anyways?!?!?

as for the "are you sure you want to exit" pop-up screens for the APPS, look in the app it runs in, some of them have the option to turn it off.

And when you shutdown, the option should always pop up. i dont think you can turn it off.

thanks i'll take a look at that site. As for why I want automatic shutdown, I sometimes leave my computer on at night for things like defrag or whatever, and want it to shut itself off at a certain time instead of leaving it on all night. I know i read it in an article recently but i can't remember where i saw it. oh well

Its honestly best if you let the system shut down normally, especailly if your system hard drives cache data. This gives the data stored time to be purged and reduces the chance of lost data and corruption. This is especially true if you run a SCSI system with a caching controller.. instant shutdown would almost assuredly create lost data.

I agree with mastertech, that's why the move lately has been to slower shutdowns for the reasons mtech said. I believe a slower shutdown is included in microsofts latest updates also, once it became known that data was being corrupted by faster shutdowns.
