Auzentech Prelude Now Shipping

I don't know if anyone has been paying attention to this or not but Auzentech has finally started shipping our their Prelude sound cards, based off the X-Fi chipset. It was originally slated for release in May I believe but after months of delays its finally out

So far all I could find is ncix

I could be mistaken, but I don't think the extreme gamer uses a true X-FI sound processor and therefore the Auzentech would stomp it.

You're thinking of the XtremeAudio. The Gamer is a real X-Fi (although they did throw out some headers and other things to make it fit as a half-height card).

Well the 411 on this latest Auzentech offering is that it's the best X-Fi card, on paper. The main issue surrounding it, however, is concern over its Creative sourced drivers; many reviewers have found Creative driven X-Fi cards like the X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 series to be very buggy and poorly supported, particularly with Vista. Guess we'll see soon if Auzentech has done (or can do) anything different as the judging reviews trickle in.

I'm very interested in Auz-Prelude, but I would like to know if the infamous 'Squeal of Death' that is notorious on Creative Cards has carried over or not..........I'm wanting to dump my CL X-Fi like yesterday!

I have an Auzentech X-Meridian and I love it. I replaced the opamps with the ones that they are now using in the Prelude. LM492's...is that right? I can't remember off the top of my head. Anyways, it's a great soundcard. I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it if there wasn't a refurb version on eBay though, ~$130. $200 for a soundcard just feels steep.
