Exactly... and just maybe... C-Media is like, hahaha because they have a headstart with XAudio2? Maybe they aren't going to bother with OpenAL because it's creative spawn, and XAudio2 is Microsoft's cross platform solution for PCs and Xbox 360 and thus may recieve massive support? I bet the sound situation on PCs is going to be very very different in a year. Lots to see

Anyway there seems to be an update to this card.

" Santa Clara, CA -June 4, 2007: Auzentech, Inc. (www.auzentech.com), developer of the world's first Dolby® Digital Live and DTS® Connect PCI sound card, announced today a revised shipping date of the end of June for the company's new sound card based on the Creative X-FI? chipset.

The revised June 2007 release date for the Auzen X-FI? Prelude 7.1 is a response to confirmed parts availability. The original date -- based on projected parts availability -- had placed the ship date near the end of May.

Auzen X-FI? Prelude 7.1 will fully support EAX 5.0 and have the same expandability as the Auzen X-Meridian? 7.1. Support for Dolby® Digital Live real time encoding for Vista is scheduled for Q4 of this year. The soundcard marks the first time Creative has permitted a third-party soundcard vendor to use the Creative X-FI? chipset in its own soundcard design. "


I want to actually see this card, sames creative still doesn't know how to place an FP_Audio connectors on their cards and I actually want use mine, rather than using this dongle switch. So I really hope this card comes to light with very good quality drivers and audio quality.

It will probably be the same unless you take advantage of the new features/drivers.

Anyone know what's up with this card? It was supposed to be out in May, then June, then July... It's August now and nothing. Plus I see that all of the features won't even be available on it when it launches (no DD Live or DTS-I until 2008 via driver updates?).. I'm losing a lot of interest in this card, and since Auzentech has a pretty solid track record I'm thinking Creative must somehow be screwing around with them on this (Creative may have a DD-Live DTS-I card they want to launch first later this year? who knows)

I've been thinking about it since someone pointed me to it. I've been using Creative since the original SB, but one thing I've always hated about it is the interference. When listening to audio either on headphones or through an amp, you can always hear other elements of your system bleeding through. It seems that, at least from what I have read, auzentech is better at dealing with this. Is that correct, or can you still hear bleed through?

Can you clarify what you hear? Mine is noiseless when unused analog inputs are muted. Indeed, noise (hiss) only begins to be introduced by the amp itself when the volume is about twice normal listening level; this is with no source playing and professional headphones and my painfully acute hearing

Not hiss for me, just small "beeps" and "boops" (yes, I know, highly technical). Typically I can hear this when the system reads from the HD or such when other sound is not playing. I would have suspected the particular build, but it's happened on the past several computers. My current box has a SB Live card in it. I still see that the Az card is not out yet. Since the beginning of August it's said "Just days / Imminent..."

Creative have been preparing a PCI-e X-Fi since early 2007 and it?s based on a whole different chip due to the differences in the PCI/PCI-e architecture. This unfortunately means that the Prelude could become outdated shortly after it?s released by Creative immediately putting their PCI-e version on the market.

Hope this doesn't make the Prelude extinct by the end of the year =/

The Omega Claro Plus+ is equal to it in pure SQ. The prelude has the advantage of EAX. It has the disadvantage that DDL and DTS connect don't work right now.

The front R/L out and/or the front of your case if you have front panel audio outs.
