Does anyone know when you will be able to find the X800 XT in stock for a reasonable price? (MSRP $500)
I've seen release dates at late as july 27, is this right?

I ordered a x800 PRO today from Best Buy, since they had the 10% off deal. I would've rather ordered the x800 XT, but they aren't allowing orders at this time, per phone support, since there is no definite release date. The guy on the phone seemed to think late July, but he wouldn't give me a definite answer. I hope I didn't make the wrong decision by jumping on the PRO so that I could save 10% instead of waiting for the XT to come out and see if they have a 10% off deal around that time....

i believe the 10% discount on video cards also applies to the xt cards... $449.99 after discount... online orders only though i believe. i'm still thinking over whether or not to drop the cash on them now... although doom3 is supposedly shipping aug 3 (my bday!!) so i doubt i'm gonna see one any cheaper than that before then... so i might just jump on it.

errr... but yeah... they're completely out of stock so it's still only a pre-order. same with the pro's i believe. although there's a link to bestbuy from the ati site i hear... so hopefully that means they'll be first in line whenever stock becomes available.

Yes, as stated above, you can purchase the PRO today via best buy online and get the 10% discount, but you cannot buy the XT, b/c they don't have a ETA on when they'll be getting them in. Why they even show the discounted price of the XT if it is unavailable makes no sense other than to make me frustrated, since they won't let me pre-order it...

I don't think that they have shipped any PROs out from bestbuy.com yet, I've checked their website religiously the past 2 weeks, keeping an eye out for availability and sales, and have noticed that their 'estimated ship date' has always been from 7/13-7/22 for the PRO, and 'coming soon' for the XTs.

HAHA, just kidding...I'm wondering though, if it would be possible to have your BB ship a XT to one of my local BB stores? Probably a shot in the dark, but I'm really having second thoughts about buying the x800 Pro...And actually considering anyone at BB to do something over and beyond normal workload would be a miracle.

I got my XT800P (visiontek) at a local Microcenter this past Saturday. About crapped when I saw the box, thought it was preorder until I saw the sticker price. It was the only one they had.

I'm just trying to sort out my new system build problems which I should have done tomorrow with a new MB.

Shady, if you would tell me your store's location I would be most grateful. You see, I just happen to WORK for Best Buy in the computer department.
I also have been checking religiously on the status of the XT PE's, but I have not heard anymore than the website says yet. Initially the XT PE was on pre-order, then they sold through the pre-order stock and had to take it off the website. A few weeks later, ala a few weeks ago, they put it back up with "Coming Soon" and I haven't heard a word yet. At my store in Eastern North Carolina, we have a place for the card in our store which means we will be carrying it soon. As soon as I found out anything concrete, I will let you know.

why bestbuy, why not order from one of the online dealers (newegg zzf...), they will most likley have it in
stock sooner and at a better price?

ok, i was wrong, bestbuy has it for $100 less then neweggg or zzf, I have never seen that before.

I'm with fbrdphreak. I too have been checking religiously, even though I have one preordered through Gateway (Yes, I am hanging on). X800 XT PE + BB = No Go!

I was in Best Buy yesterday. They are selling a lot of the X800 pro's & XT's. Well, at least the empty boxes that say "PreOrder Only" on them. Looks like the graphics card market believes they have everyone by the gonads. Pumping out empty boxes of air promising if you give us your money now, eventually you may or may not get your card. If not, you will get your money back. We just wanted to waste a whole bunch of your time in making you wait for nothing.

You seem so confident, and yet you work at BB. I live in Burbank. Just returned from the Burbank Best Buy and Fry's. Best Buy burbank just has empty boxes like every other BB. There is also a big sticker on the box that says Pre-Order available only online. I asked one of the computer guys when they are getting the XT and he had no clue. He didn't even bother to check in the computer if there was a delivery date listed. Fry's doesn't have squat either.

You can check online to save you time. I tried checking availability on my local Best Buys and none had any in stock, so I punched in the first zipcode I could think of that wasn't mine... 90210. And a Best Buy in that area had some in stock, so they are in retail stores, it's just that they're very very rare.

the 800xt is still non-existant in Canada. Mega paper launch I guess. Still ATI is doing surprisingly well on the ecconmic front. Nvidia is not.
All seems very weird to me.

I've never bought video cards based on a company's stock price or profitability? (and if I did, I would have missed out on a lot of great 3dfx and ATI cards in the past)

It always amazes me when people bring up stock prices. What's next employee satisfaction survey results? How eco-friendly the firm is judged to be?

When will places like BestBuy carry it?
How the heck would we know that unless we worked at ATI?

I went to Best Buy in colorado Springs and I was told that Best Buy, I think he meant here in the Springs, would not be carrying the XT's, that you could only order them online. I think either that is stupid and they are moving to just online sales, which doesnt make much sense or Best Buy hires really dumb people who load customers with a bunch of crap when they themselves have absolutely no freakin clue! The guy asked me 4 times which one I was looking for and he went to Best buy.com and typed in "radeon" and found the XT status as "coming soon". You would think they would have their own internal inventory system or something...

Yes would be a dumb way to pick a card. I more thinking that if ATI was having yield problems, the stock should be going down, but instead is going up. Eco-friendly, now only someone who has no interest in our world would ignore that. One of the major reasons for buying x800xt - less power consumption.

My x800 Pro that I ordered last week on bestbuy.com is still in 'backordered' status (They are supposed to start shipping the 13th).

And now you can no longer order one from their site, as they are now listing the Pros as 'Sold Out', and the XT's are still listed as 'Coming Soon'. Weird. They have people practically lined up to drop $400-$500 on video cards (not including all of us who preordered & already paid), and they won't allow any more pre-orders on the Pros? Thats crazy. I wonder what their management is thinking. Maybe their shipments of Pros are going to take longer to receive than expected, and they don't want to receive too many complaints from pre-paying customers over the extended wait time? I guess we will see over the next couple of weeks.

For me, waiting won't be all that hard to swallow, considering I got 10% off the price of the card for ordering online last week during their July 4th sale, plus I'm getting a 0% APR on my best buy card that I used to place the order.

EDIT: While typing this, I just received this email from bestbuy.com re: my x800 Pro pre-order....25 days? WOAH! I guess they aren't going to be shipping the week of July 13th after all:

Looking at your system and what you said, I'm guessing you had at least a 9800 Pro before. Upgrading to an X800XT now is worth paying an extra $350+ rather than waiting a few weeks??
