I've only heard one review so far, and it was too much action/not as good as 1. Sounds like a personal taste kinda thing and it should be collecting buckets of $$$$$.

yeah, reminded me of star Trek: Nemesis.
(enterprise + 2 Warbirds vs rogue romulan ship)

and yes will bring in lots of $.

the thing I didn't like was Capt America + thors hammer.
since when is cap invulnerable?

in comics he would be dead taking a punch (w/o shield) from the hulk or repulsors at full blast from iron man.
yet he kept on fighting like he had Wolverine's fast healing factor.

and wtf Vision being able to do that?

oh.. and remind me how the good guys lost loki's scepter?

and my last gripe about the movie:
none of the ultron robots have repulsor tech? they're just hand to hand?
yet everytime Ultron builds a new body for himself, he has repulsaors.

I guess convenient to give the girl with nice ass some combat time

Just got out of the movie.

I thought it was awesome. Not as great as the first but good. My favorite was Vision's scene.

I did a double feature yesterday of Avengers 1 and 2. Definitely prefer the 1st one. I'm not a total comic book nerd so I don't know the story lines or had even heard of "Vision" before this. That whole story line just felt weird and forced. There's some vault, with some sort of fleshy android thing, Thor whacks it with his hammer and it comes out red and with a cape?

In general most of the 2nd movie felt forced. It's like they tried to make an Empire Strikes Back out of it and show the knock down of the Avengers and take them underground. But it was all just a ton of action and robots. Piles and piles of robots. That come out of no where. Meh. I'm getting tired of the 2.5 hour long action movies. After about 90 minutes my brain has had enough stuff blowing up and explosions that the impact is lost at the end. At the two hour mark I started looking at my watch to see when this was going to end.

One positive thing is I like how they actually humanized Hawkeye. He's not an emotionless drone in this movie. Renner was actually one of the more likable characters in this movie. It was a complete 360 from the last movie. It was a nice touch.

The first one stood on it's own pretty well. The second...it will be a while before I want to dedicate that much time to watching it again.

they totally rewrote both the vision and ultron. In the comics Ultron was the son of hank pym. they were right in that Ultron creates the vision. thy changed things though overall.

I loved how they had Hawkeye. He rules in this movie his speach to the scarlet witch was funny and great.

I agree it's nto as good as the first but still a very good movie.

As far as Hawkeye and ver 1, he did spend a significant portion of the movie in drone mode, and once out of it the film started the big fight scene.

I haven't really kept up on the comics, but did read a story that they swapped ultron to stark because they didn't want to toss in antman with such a significant role prior to a solo movie explaining him.

someone explain the thor bath scene w/the professor?

so it looks like:
next capt America + iron man movies = civil war arc
next avengers/thor/guardian of the galaxy movies = infinity gauntlet

how does the ant man movie fit into this?

Only because they showed the Trailer for it...I have zero interest in seeing Ant Man.

I'm not a comic book guy, the entire concept just seems...meh. That's a movie where I feel like Marvel is trying too hard to ride the cash train. He's miniature, but super strong, and recruits ants to work with him? Eh. No thanks.

Just not for me.

I guess it depends if Marvel can make Ant Man another Guardians of the Galaxy.
When Guardians opened, reviewers were like, "You (Marvel) are rebooting a failed 70's comic strip storyline into a movie? Is this a joke?" But Marvel somehow make it a very fun movie.

At least, Marvel knows Ant Man seems a bit like a joke and won't go all dark, serious and brooding about it like DC.

The thing with Guardians and Avengers is that it's a group of people. You don't have to like every character, as long as they work well together and the banter between them is fun, it works.

The stand alone Iron Man/Spiderman/Batman movies need a strong character and actor to pull it off and make it work since they are the star. I like Paul Rudd, but this sort of has that Ben Afleck DareDevil feeling. I'm curious what the studios own projections are for it.

I was never a Ant man fan. Unless it gets great reviews on forums (not professional) I think I will wait for it to be on DVD

For me it's hard not to watch all of them now since they all tie in.

Which is why Ant-Man feels like a cash grab. I never knew his story, but reading on the source material, HE'S FUCKING ULTRON?

So... They rewrite Ultron to be a Stark creation, probably because Pym wasn't going to be in the universe. Then they decide to use him, but oops, we rewrote his story, so they have to rewrite it again?

Seems sloppy.

Why not just run with a modified version of the source, or not include him at all?

Well from the trailers Hank Pym is already old and is passing on the mantle of Ant-Man to someone else.

Marvel hasn't had any horribly bad movies since MCU started. There are some not great ones but not all of them can be Iron Man 1 or GotG.

OK, so the other guy is Pym, I guess that makes sense. I have a ton of confidence in Marvel recently, since they decided to go the MCU direction everything has been excellent, but I'm questioning this one.

Can't see Ultron tonight, it'll have to wait for tomorrow afternoon.

I don't understand why I am so uninterested in this movie. I'm far more excited to see Ex Machina for some reason. :hmm:

It's a tie-in to the next Thor movie, Thor: Ragnarok. As we know, Thor and his universe are pretty much based upon Norse mythology. So, you don't have to read the comics to know that Thor: Ragnarok will not be a pretty time for Thor:

Here's a summary of Ragnarok from the Wikipedia entry for those that aren't ancient religion nerds ...
In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a series of future events, including a great battle foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods Odin, Thor, Týr, Freyr, Heimdallr, and Loki), the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water. Afterward, the world will resurface anew and fertile, the surviving and returning gods will meet, and the world will be repopulated by two human survivors. Ragnarök is an important event in the Norse canon, and has been the subject of scholarly discourse and theory.
It's essentially doomsday for Thor, and that's what he saw flashes of.

EDIT:

$27.6 million in Thursday night previews compared to Furious 7 which had $15.8

I'm kind of glad. Furious 7 isn't that good of a movie, and it's quite silly that it has even made a billion.

I'm far more excited to see Ex Machina for some reason. :hmm:

I'd like to see that, but out of all the theaters in a 20 mile radius (about 6 non-discount theaters), only one is showing it... and it happens to be the furthest away (about 25 minutes).

Honestly, the trailer for the Mission Impossible movie was more interesting than Avengers 2.

That movie looks to be incredibly well polished and fun. Oh and I'm convinced that Tom Cruise is a wizard. Dude doesn't age.

I think my biggest thing with the Avengers was the first one got them together, we saw them fight, they won. I'm over it. I don't need another hit of super hero mega-group crack.

It's playing everywhere here thankfully. I'm going to try and see it on Sunday. Can see Avengers 2 at some other point I guess.

Love me some Tom Cruise so definitely in for that! Agree on the last part too.
