I don't know where people are all of a sudden thinking this was a thing. It was already said after Guardians 2 came out that he was going to wait until part 3.
what actor will portray him? I haven't looked into it.

Plot question:
WTF happened after Thanos got stabbed in the heart by Thor? He told Thor he should have gone for his head and then Thanons teleported out of there, and then all of a sudden Thanos is having this vision where Gamorrah is alive as a child and they are standing in this pool of water and everything is red, and Gamorrah asks Thanons if he did it, and how much it cost. What was that about? How did Thanos teleport out, did he go back in time or something? And where was he where he saw Gamorrah alive? Was this just a trippy vision or did it have some significance?
We're 2 weeks past the movie opening. I think it's safe to not use spoiler tags at this point. Any fan would have seen it by now.
You'd think, but based on GoT threads from a few years ago some people on here go nuts about stuff like that.
Personally, I think 1 week, maybe 2 weeks is a fair amount of time to expect spoiler warnings for new release movie threads, but after that it should be fair game. Just my thoughts, anyway.

To me, it's common sense that a thread dedicated to a movie is going to be filled with spoilers after release and you should enter at your own risk and assume the worst.
I like to consider that it's nice to be able to read a movie thread to get simple opinions on a movie without spoiling the movie. As for older movies, what if someone just never saw a movie for whatever reason? For example, someone on this forum spoiled The Usual Suspects for me, and now I have no desire to watch it. Why hadn't I watched it? No one had directly brought it up to me nor had I ever stumbled across it. Frankly, I don't think it's hard to toss spoiler tags or click to show them, and if it can help someone out, then why not? It isn't hurting me, and it's potentially better for someone else.
I think you missed the main plot. The whole point of Thanos' quest was to get all the infinity stones (each having their own powers). Once all of them were together, in the gauntlet, Thanos snapped his fingers, after being hit in the chest (Should have gone for the head would have killed him), and thus annihilating half of life in the universe. That's why so many started turning to ash.
Thanos teleported into the Soul world (which the soul stone controls) and talked to Gamorrah. It was just his vision of her, young again. But essentially anyone killed by the soul stone, their soul would be there too (all Avengers that were turned to dust). That brings it to the plot of the next movie, most likely restoring those souls, turning back time perhaps.
He didn't choose, he got "sent" there by the stones. Remember, this is only part one of a two part movie. There's a lot purposely not explained that we have to wait a year to know. Why did Thanos choose to teleporg to the soul world after being nearly killed by Thor? Couldn't he have gone anywhere? Why would he want to go to the soul world? Also how did he heal his wounds from getting hit with the ace?
What an absolutely awful ending. Indescribably awful, just like Mass Effect 3, only you didn't get to pick a color. And it is an obvious money grab, since the fans will HAVE to see the next one, to see who comes back, (just like Shepard in Mass Effect).
So did this movie steal the ending of ME3, or did ME3 steal the ending from the original comic books? No matter, they both still suck just as much. At least for the movie, i only wasted 20 bucks and 2.5 hours of my time, instead of 150 bucks and 120 hours of my time playing the Mass Effect Series.

Granted, not all that much was spent on the gems themselves, but at least with Guardians and Dr Strange, the power of two of those gems was rather paramount to the plot.
I liked Thor 2.Don't forget Thor 2! Wait.. everyone would rather forget Thor 2? Nevermind... carry on!
Shepard fight reapers, dies, is reborn, reapers win, universe destroyed. Thantos = reapers, Avengers fight Thantos, lose, universe destroyed. The only difference is the Avengers havent been brought back to life yet, but for sure they will be. You know the producers are not going to let billion dollar franchises die permanently. It was a always a 2-parter, and it's pretty much following a very similar path to the original series. In theme, anyway. But hey at least with the original series, Nothing really started until Thanos wiped out half the universe. This is from the early 90s, so it certainly predates anything Mass Effect. ....I also don't see how this is all that similar to that.
But hey, if the thought of the supreme power in the universe, commanding all natures of the universe having the power to destroy half the universe with a thought is upsetting, then I guess you weren't paying attention to the dozen previous movies that were aiming towards what would happen when all of those gems get together? Granted, not all that much was spent on the gems themselves, but at least with Guardians and Dr Strange, the power of two of those gems was rather paramount to the plot.
I liked Thor 2.
