If you want to spend on the high end of your budget ($200), I'd definitely opt for a solid top guitar. Better sound and they age well. Here is a good option for solid top in that range (with free shipping). Washburn makes great, budget guitars.

Washburn F10S

If you want to spend less and can forego the solid top, you can consider one of these:

Washburn DK20T

Ibanez PF5

Personally, I feel that acoustics are investments and you get what you pay for. If you think you'll take it serious and it's not a phase, then I'd probably opt to spend a little more for something nicer. But if I had a $200 budget, I'd probably get the F10S. It's a very nice guitar for the price. Good luck and I'm sure others can give you some more suggestions.

Yeah, washburns keep getting cheaper and keep sounding better. You should be able to get one in your price range that you're happy with.

Ibanez is okay but I think Washburn makes a much better sounding acoustic when comparing similiar price ranges. I'm sure I'll offend someone by saying this but avoid the Yamaha acoustics you'll see for under $200. I think they sound like crap. I doubt you'll beat the sound of a solid top Washburn in the sub-$200 range. Also consider ordering a good set of strings if you get one because most of the cheaper guitars come with lower quality ones. And yes, they do make a difference.
