No it's not. It's simply "Japanese", shortened. I've typed "Jap" here tons of times. Anyone who thinks that is derogatory needs to get over themselves.Originally posted by: rrahman1

I asked you nicely to remove that derogatory term and you did not.
Enjoy your week off.

After my initial post, I had figured that the poster had used the "G" word for Koreans, and that's what the problem was.
If people are going to get their panties in a wad over stupid stuff like this, then get mad over ALL of it. I don't see anyone bitching about Germans being referred to as Krauts, Americans referred to as "Yanks", British being referred to as Limeys, French as Frogs, etc, etc.
I'm from the South, and I'm FAR from anything resembling a Yankee, which is where "Yank" comes from, but I realize that some foreigners refer to all Americans as "Yanks", and that's fine.

Worthless statistics. I'd love to see the polling/data collection methods. I find it very hard to believe they tested the IQs of all Chinese sweatshop employees and the millions of people living in huts throughout the country. And don't give me the law of large numbers, and accuracy of simple random samples non-sense.

I call total shens and 1000% bs. All of the poor countries with a large illiterate population are at the bottom and all those with extreme academic demands are at the top. Some might say that's ok until you acknowledge that an IQ test measures intelligence and not education/knowledge.
I'd like to see a link, but I'm guessing this was in no way a standard test like the Stanford-Binet or similar.
There should be a pretty strong correlation between education and intelligence.
Not 100% of course, but still there. You can't be intelligent about a subject unless the knowledge is there in the first place...
No it's not, are you fvcking stupid? As a Japanese American, I take offense to your moronic statement. J**s absolutely has a slightly negative connotation, no it's not a fcking nickname like "Bob" (my name's "Rob" btw). Maybe if YOUR grandparents were persecuted by the U.S. government you'd take a slight offense to the term as well.Originally posted by: Amused
Punishing people for shortening Japanese is like punishing someone for calling a person named Robert Bob, Rob, Robby or Bobby. Or Richard Dick, Dickie, Rich or Ritchie.

If someone uses the term out of ignorance, then I don't really care (like the dipsht poster in this thread who got a vacation). However, most people educated in history should be aware of the slight negative connotation of the term. No, it's not as bad as calling a black a ____, or an Asian a c_____, but just be aware that it's slightly offensive. If you can't the whole term "Japanese", at least use Oriental (less offensive than J**s but still shows you're an ignorant dipsht).
