GEORGE BUSH, the world's most powerful man, has the lowest IQ on that list.

Who says dreams don't come true?...

damn, i guess i won't make any korean jokes...... whew.....
So...what was the "derogatory term"? I don't see one...did the mod edit it?

?? The term 'Japs' is a derogatory reference.
No it's not. It's simply "Japanese", shortened. I've typed "Jap" here tons of times. Anyone who thinks that is derogatory needs to get over themselves.

After my initial post, I had figured that the poster had used the "G" word for Koreans, and that's what the problem was.

If people are going to get their panties in a wad over stupid stuff like this, then get mad over ALL of it. I don't see anyone bitching about Germans being referred to as Krauts, Americans referred to as "Yanks", British being referred to as Limeys, French as Frogs, etc, etc.

I'm from the South, and I'm FAR from anything resembling a Yankee, which is where "Yank" comes from, but I realize that some foreigners refer to all Americans as "Yanks", and that's fine.

I think this argument has some merit. (Link posted above)

"Personally, I like the argument of Richard Lynn that the main factor is improved nutrition during development and early childhood. Over the last 100 years, industrialised countries have seen three striking trends: (a) average height has increased; (b) the average age of puberty has fallen; and (c) average IQ scores have risen. Improved nutrition is the major reason for (a) and (b), so it would be a parsimonious explanation if it is also responsible for (c)."

I'm offended by your use of the word "Yanks" as I hate the NY Yankees

I have to agree. The double standard is amazing.

You can call a white person any name in the book. ANY NAME, and nothing like this happens.

I have seen "cracker," "white trash," "frog," "limey," "redneck," "trailer park trash," etc, and no one is punished.

Japanese is a noun with three syllables. Most nouns with three syllables are BOUND to be shortened.

I understand the history of WWII made some bad memories of the shortening of the name, but that is LONG past us and no one on this forum is old enough to remember that directly.

Punishing people for shortening Japanese is like punishing someone for calling a person named Robert Bob, Rob, Robby or Bobby. Or Richard Dick, Dickie, Rich or Ritchie.

Mods, context is what counts. An insult is based purely on the context. Was the post meant to be derogatory? Or was the poster just cutting typing and time?

Worthless statistics. I'd love to see the polling/data collection methods. I find it very hard to believe they tested the IQs of all Chinese sweatshop employees and the millions of people living in huts throughout the country. And don't give me the law of large numbers, and accuracy of simple random samples non-sense.

It sounds like your mind was made up before hand, and you were just looking for any tidbit to validate it.

What scares me is the US lies about so many things, (especially statistics), that we may very well be much worse than that.

I'd like to see a link, but I'm guessing this was in no way a standard test like the Stanford-Binet or similar.

There should be a pretty strong correlation between education and intelligence.

Not 100% of course, but still there. You can't be intelligent about a subject unless the knowledge is there in the first place...
Yep, further proof that Europe's education system trumps ours. Hong Kong has many Europeans as well.

No it's not, are you fvcking stupid? As a Japanese American, I take offense to your moronic statement. J**s absolutely has a slightly negative connotation, no it's not a fcking nickname like "Bob" (my name's "Rob" btw). Maybe if YOUR grandparents were persecuted by the U.S. government you'd take a slight offense to the term as well.

If someone uses the term out of ignorance, then I don't really care (like the dipsht poster in this thread who got a vacation). However, most people educated in history should be aware of the slight negative connotation of the term. No, it's not as bad as calling a black a n____, or an Asian a c_____, but just be aware that it's slightly offensive. If you can't use the whole term "Japanese", at least use Oriental (less offensive than J**s but still shows you're an ignorant dipsht).

Yes, but people who have spent their lives stretching their minds will test higher. In industrialized nations where people rely more on their minds for income rather than their physical labor you'll see more people who have spent years practicing higher level problem solving and things.

I see, so attacking me personally and calling me names is better than me excusing someone for using an abbreviated form of Japanese?

And I'm still curious as to why whites are the only people on Earth who, according to the overly sensitive PC crybabies, can be called anything and nothing is considered offensive.

So some propaganda assholes used the abbreviated word for Japanese 65 years ago. Big deal. Get over it. I fail to see the widespread damage that word, or ANY word causes. A word can only be offensive if you take offense to it.

EVERYBODY'S ancestors have been persecuted at one time or another.

Finally, if it's okay to call a Jewish person a Jew, it's okay to call a Japanese person the abbreviation I would get banned for.

I think this should resolve the whole shortening of Japanese issue. I thought it was pretty well understood that its use was negative.

Yeah, what the hell? :disgust:
Its not like he said a real racial epiteth.

When I took Japanese in high school the teacher (who had lived there on and off for 15 years) used the word Japs frequently. When called on it she said the whole concept of PC is laughed at over there and they dont mind "Japs" anyway. Its not an issue for them.

I dont use it because I know how soft and sensitive everyone is these days and something like this could start a huge debate with a PC pussy.
