Actually 147 isn't too bad I think. You consider that Dell charges 169 for their 3 year plan
mail-in option. The best buy plan seems to be decent (covers battery replacement [question is... how bad does it have to be]). One thing I've learned from owning a notebook is that YOU NEED a 3yr warranty. I'm glad I got a 3yr plan with my old Dell Inspiron 8000. Sure saved my butt a couple of times.
Anyway, is it me or does this notebook tend to take a while to charge the battery when compared to some other notebooks? Sure takes a lot longer than my Thinkpad A31p and Dell Inspiron 8000.
Also if anyone is interested in a BIOS update for their machine:
BIOS R1.10 (N222S8 board)
Haven't tried it yet. Seems like the BIOS revision on the Avertec is R1.03. However, the BIOS date reported on the POST screen seems to be 03/07/2003. The R1.10 BIOS date seems to be 11/25/2002. As for which one is newer. Kind of a toss-up.
Apparantly the Averatec/Sotec laptops are relabled TwinHead Efio!
2A00 units.
