How can one offer better protection when the other has better detection? Do you mean AVG scans faster but AntiVir finds more?

Err maybe because there's not much point in spending money if you never get viruses?
I don't see Kaspersky 5 at Newegg, the only thing I can find there is version 6 for $50.Originally posted by: John

And what's the catch here? Obviously you recommended buying Kaspersky first instead of a free version, so there must be a catch. It is interesting how the licence & user agreement talks about them being able to freely use this software as ad-ware and collect & distribute personally identifiable information about any way the software is used, or any options you select within any feature of the software.Originally posted by: John
Newegg recently doubled the price.
Get AOL/Kaspersky v6 for free: http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp?

It may be a good clean software - I'm just saying I don't always trust "free", especially when released by a company like AOL.
