i need to make a decision between NAV2004 and AVG7 Free on my system... i have both right now cause in my experience AVG picks up some things that norton doesnt but i'm not sure if that works the other way around too

i checked antisource.com but it hasnt been updated with an antivirus roundup since february and i was just wondering what ppl would feel more comfortable with.

im leaning towards switching to AVG but want to hear some opinions before doin it!

thx!

if you select other plz specify!

AVG or AntiVir free... I use both, since I don't keep them active, and just cross-check downloaded files with the two of them... in case you're paranoid that a bug could escape a particular detection engine.

Agree with JustAnAverageGuy... I got rid fo NAV because of the mess of stuff it loads. AVG has worked great for my main PC and my laptop. I like the integrated Outlook support, too.

Quick question, but does anyone use Anti-Vir with Zonealarm?

Because does the constant data transfer through the firewall bother you?

Either way Anti-Vir offers by far the best detection rates, although AVG offers good detection rates in key virus areas when you have other tools to back it up eg on trojans and worms (ewido, a-squared, and other detection engines).

For the paranoid, you can run AVG constantly and have anti-vir and bit defender free as on-demand scanners along with ewido, a-squared, MS antispyware, ad-aware, spybot, spyware blaster among others - all free

I dunno, used to run AVG then installed NAV04 corp edition and it found a whole assortment of crap on my machine that AVG had no clue about.

Honestly starting to believe you need a couple AV suites running to protect yourself.

avg7 is awesome, norton SUCKS ASS and slows your pc. My neighbor had a virus problem and bought norton. His computer remained borked.

I gave him avg7 on cd and his computer is almost 100% again.

I used NAV for years. Subscription ran out, decided not to renew, and now I notice how much it bogged my system. Antivir was cool but it stopped working for some reason (closed 'umbrella') and I found support from the Germans a bit lacking. AVG looked OK but when I installed it, I was told that I have old versions of a couple of programs (which I can't remember anymore) and I should update them or AVG may not work properly. Too much of a bother. So finally I've got Avast! loaded and am a happy camper. Use whatever but I think NAV is bloated, customer service sucks and they'll have no more of my business.

I like Trend Micro Internet Security. But between Norton and AVG, definitely AVG.
