So, I admit I haven't actually played it, but looking through reviews on Steam, it's what I was afraid of.
Looks like it's a technically proficient, competently well made game with a dense map with lots of verticality and beautiful fantastical locales... But the narrative is boring and lacks any sort of hook or mystery.
I sort of felt this way when I played outer worlds, Obsidian has done an about face. Historically they had really gripping narratives marred by low budgets and tons of indie jank. Now they have plenty of money and the jank is gone, but so are the gripping, challenging narratives as well.
