That's CG? Wow... I bow to those skills...

I'd wager $100 that if you didn't have prior knowledge of this being a rendered image you would have no clue.Originally posted by: cobalt

If u didnt tell me, i wouldn't know that it's CG...
It's easy to tell by looking at the eyes. There is no emotion or "soul".

I'd have to say digital characters are the hardest thing there is to create. You can easily create a realistic spaceship, but creating a human face is way hard because everybody knows what a human face looks like and even the slightest flaws triggers the "that's fake" button in our minds.

It's just so obvious it's CG. I don't see how anyone could mistake for real. There's just some unnamable quality (call it a soul if you must) to a face that can never be fully replicated in CG. Ever.

have you seen Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within? It's realistic, not completely photo-realistic, but pretty darn good. Part of the reason the hyper-realistic stuff isn't animated too much is because a lot of 3D images have tons of postwork done to them (color correction and photoshop editing and such). 3D characters = hard; animation = hard; animating realistic 3D characters = hard++.
