Agreed, Rossman knows his stuff about webhosting. I took his advice and got an account with hostpc.com and have been very very very happy with it. The $25/year plan is great for those that just want a place for a hobby site. I have been so happy with their $25/year service I have contemplated getting some of their more "expensive" plans with larger storage capabiites (as the $25/year plan only offers 300 megs).

A big props to Rossman

ROSSman, have you signed up with bitstream yet? I'm curious since their pricing is great (at least for my bandwith), so if you have some feedback that'd be great.

Agreed.

Come on people let's be realistic how can a business survive at these unbelievable prices?

I have no comment because I have not used nor ever heard of this "web host", I would search for reviews on WHT.

I'm considering signing up with BitStreamHosting.com which offers:
  • Linux of course
  • Resellers account, host unlimited domains
  • Personalized name servers (ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com)
  • 2GB disk space
  • 30GB per month data transfer (bandwidth)
  • Unlimited Domains
  • Unlimited MySQL DB's
  • Unlimited POP3 Emails
  • Unlimited FTP Accounts
  • Shell Access Available upon request
  • WHM Reseller control panel for you to managed your accounts
  • Cpanel + Fantastico + RVskin for your customers
  • Cpanel support in over 15 languages!
  • Nightly Backups + Weekly Offsite Backups
  • Adult Content OK (must be US legal)
  • 30 Day Zero Risk Money-Back Guarantee
  • Hosted on their fast Xeon and P4 servers (no celeron's here)
  • FREE $8.49 Domain Reseller Account

They will transfer your previous web host accounts for FREE, up to 10 domains assuming it's cPanel control panel.

Two nice bonuses are:
Fantastico - auto installer scripts for you and all of your clients.
RVSkin.com - an awesome and customizable cPanel skin.

Please remember, "you get what you pay for".

Hi man, Actually, I have been (EDIT: doing business /EDIT) with this company for 9 months or so, I think I saw it first on AT or a similar deals site. I had the same reluctance that many probably feel when they see this deal (the deal was even better when I first saw it, too EDIT: I paid $35.40 ($2.95 per month for 12 months for 2GBds/40GBbw) /EDIT). But for some of my less important sites, I figured what the hell, I'll give it a shot, and have been Completely Satisfied! The service was perfect from the get-go and has been perfect the entire time, even when they transitioned to a better backbone there was literally no down-time.

As for me "advertising"... Like I said, I have been 100% satisfied with this company, and really, really happy with the price... that's why I posted it in the hot deals section. I post hot deals whenever I think they are hot, not when I think they are a scam or when they are merely semi-warm. This is definitely hot. The deal you posted is also hot, for a reseller account that costs 2-3 times as much and has half the bandwidth. Depends on the individual (if they are reselling hosting or not) which deal is better, assuming the company you mentioned is any good.

And also, the owner of ace-host.net is a member on the website you mentioned for "checking up on hosts."

ajdowntown - I'm happy to hear that you signed up for HostPC.com's $25/yr web hosting plan. So far I have been extremely happy with them and DirectAdmin rocks (yes it's BETTER than cPanel).

Diabolus - Sorry I have not signed up with BitStreamHosting.com yet. I was chatting with another AT'er on AIM who signed up with bitstream and they seem impressed so far. Their account was created and the welcome e-mail sent within 20 minutes. There have been some bad reports of downtime which fortunately they admitted to and have fixed. You can find more information about that here.

robsdeals - Depending on your needs I would consider and further research FluidHosting.com and Reseller-Center.com

happyhelper - If you're happy with ace-host.net you should share your experiences with others. I would recommend registering for WebHostingTalk.com and posting a review. Make sure to post your domain which is hosted by ace-host.net otherwise there will be no credibility and people will suspect that you are spamming.

not to threadcrap, but the idea of paying $192 up front for two years of service that may or may not exist in two months doesn't seem too appealing to me at the moment. i'm cheap and host with services that are <$40 per year though so that's where i'm coming from. i wish you the best with your service, happyhelper! thanks for the post. i find these webhosting posts/responses more helpful than the ones i find on WHT (thanks Rossman!).

Yup, hostpc.com rocks. 300mb/8GB bandwidth for a ridiculous $25/year. Can't beat that. Support is
great, too (they use forums and always seem to answer my questions quickly).

Yeah, I am really happy with DirectAdmin, it is pretty darn intuitive and just plain easy to use.

Haven't had a problem yet to need the support, but glad to hear that it is good too!

I would take a good look at any company offering all of that for $3.95 a month? Like RossMan said join WebhostingTalk.com and search around for info on the host.

I believe you get what you pay for. I do not like shared hosting myself I am on a VPS, gives me guaranteed resources, my own kernel. Cost a lot more money a month, but for me it is worth it, I was able to install my own php accelerator MMcache, I like having root access also.

I jumped on RossMan's Addaction.net a year ago, for 6.95 a month with 6 months free with $9.95 setup fee. It worked for me for 6 months until I was loading up the server with my sql queries.

I would also suggest Addaction, they provided me with prompt service 24 hours a day, and I normally need service, in the wee hours of the night.

Well when you distort the facts like that (taking the $96 price for two years and for no reason whatsoever doubling it to $192) it does come accross as thread-crapping, as has just about every reply to this post. If you all don't want the best web host deal that I have EVER found, that I have been happily enjoying for nearly a year, fine, go blow your money somewhere else. I thought this was a place where people welcomed good deals. Go figure.

According to the site that RossMan indicated was a good site for verifying a host's integrity and quality, ace-host.net has been around since at least 2002. Funny that when it was first posted about on WHT, people said the place wouldn't last a week, just like some who have responded to my post here have said... well, I'm glad they were wrong, since they made such comments before I even found the place.

I have been a CUSTOMER there since last summer, going on a year, without a single problem. Support has always been practically instant and very helpful. You might pay less than $40 a year, but I doubt that you get anywhere near 2GB of disk space, or anywhere near 60GB of bandwidth or anywhere near as many features, and if you don't need that much space, bandwidth or that many features, then I guess this post doesn't pertain to you and I don't see any reason for you to crap on it.

Anyway, it's not my service (I'm a CUSTOMER) so I don't need any luck with it; it is merely a HOT DEAL that I have confirmed myself by trying something out that I thought sounded too good but at the same time could not pass up.

I did sign up for WHT, funny thing is either hotmail is not working right, which I doubt, since I got a dozen mails since I signed up this morning, or WHT's mail server is incredibly slow.

Gotta love this.

"All payments to HyTek Hosting, Inc. are refundable if your service is not everything we say it will be."

"IMPORTANT NOTICE: *All Payments To HyTek Hosting Are Non-Refundable* "

That is why we have a new TOS/AUP/SLA being looked over as I speak. It should be up within a couple of weeks. In the meantime, feel free to ask me questions regarding what we allow and do not allow. All of our plans do come with 30 day money back guarantees (except free trial plans) and a 99.7% uptime guarantee.

Yeah if you're going to run a professional webhosting company, you must have a lawyer review/write those documents properly.

I'm already using Idologic (thanks to Ross!) and they are wonderful. I've already been through this

I am curious about anyones input of an windows based resellers account, with sql maybe?

Excellent choice.

Idologic > *

They're the only web host I trust to host my personal and family web sites.

that non-refundable clause I've seen in a lot of TOS's I've read. Granted, they all generally have some kind of money back gaurantee as well.

ross, I think i'm about to second your directadmin vote... they have installatron now... ie the fantastico for DA dunno how well it works though

DA still has a ways to go but it kicks ass compared to cPanel.

They still need A LOT more skins for it, more reseller features, etc. but it's a lot less bloated and buggy than cPanel is.

Using DA with my HostPC.com account has been nothing but awesome.

Ditto from me. Have been with HostPC for a couple of months now, and so far it's been great. They email back about inquiries fast and definitely know what they're doing, unlike my previous provider.

Also the result of a Rossman post....thanks!
