I'm running @ 10x200. Windows boots up fine. I tried some stress testing with 3Dmark2k1 and my computer will restart after the first sequence completes. I tried upping the vcore and got the same result.

I then tried lowering the multiplier to 8.5x200 and ran 3Dmark again. This time it completed testing with no problems.

my CPU temp is in the 35c to 42c range from idle to load. I have three 80mm case fans going as well as an adjustable 80mm fan on my CPU.

I'm guessing either the CPU just isn't capable or it's a power issue?

your stock speed is 10x166 i'm guessing but the xp-m 2200 should be a 35W cpu, so it should be able to do that in the 1.4-1.5 volt range, i would assume to get to 2->2.2 you would need between 1.6-1.8 volts, its possible these are old chips that couldn't run at high speeds but most of the mobiles were the elites of the athlon line, capable of speeds at lower voltage, if you can try raising the fsb above 200, 210x9.5 or whatever should be easier as long as your board and ram can take it

up ram voltage a little bit (maybe to 2.7 or 2.8)

this might sound weird, but try 201 x 10

i've owned a 2200+ mobile barton before. actually, i've owned about a total of 4 mobile bartons. they all did 2.3ghz+ no sweat, i dont think you should have any problem reaching at least 2.2ghz

yeah i would be shocked if it couldn't hit 2ghz, their all basically the same chip and almost all do 2.4-2.6 if you give them volts

I used to own an Epox 8RDA+ before i moved to my A64, and they werent all "officially" rated to handle 200mhz FSB. My board would run 200mhz but the Northbridge would get buring hot. This was before the release of the NF2 Ultra which supposed 200mhz FSB speeds, but again I don't think the 8RDA+ ever offered support for it. That might be a big part of your problem.

Hmm. I haven't checked my northbridge temps (by touch). I seem to run fine at 1700 (8.5x200).. hours of diablo2 and some Unreal Tourney.
the CMOS says my VCORE is around 1.5 and I left the all the voltage settings on default. I did try upping to 1.65 for the CPU and still wasn't able to complete 3dmark01. For some reason my motherboard will not go over a 12.5 multiplier. If I go to 13 the POST screen shows my CPU at 600mhz.

I tried a BIOS update to the 8rda04729 and it didn't help anything. I tried 10x200 again and this time I couldn't even get back into the CMOS. The POST screen would tell me I had a memory failure! After multiple tries I finally got back into the CMOS and clocked back down to 8.5x200 and I am running stable again.

Another thing to take into consideration is my 7 year old Enermax 330 watt PSU.

Thanks everyone for your input. I posted the same thing at HardOCP and got no replies.

Try upping the NB voltage because that might be an issue, and lossen the RAM timings.

I can hit 200mhz FSB just fine - just can't bring the CPU up to speed for some reason.
my 12v +/- fluctuates aroudn 11.8 to 12.5 on either side
my 5v +/- is between 4.7 to 5

Maybe my aging enermax PSU is to blame? Maybe I just need to step up to the plate and get an A64 system? Any Good NF4 boards that have 2 IDE channels?

Does your 8RDA have the NF2 Ultra 400 chipset or the NF2 ultra non400? On my 8RDA+ with NF2 Ultra 400, upping the VDD from 1.6 to 1.8 helps a lot when I want a bus over ~175. Also try to play around with a lower bus and a higher multiplier to see if it's the CPU core holding you back. I think 12.5x is the top multiplier you can set on an unlocked chip on this board, so 160 bus would get you there. Then play with combinations of different buses.

I read that mobile XP's hit a bus wall when set to 200 or more because their stock bus is 133. I can't run my mobile XP 2200+ with full stability in my Shuttle XPC, but bringing the bus down to 199 (after which the board sets the bus to 198 for some reason) works fine.

If you wish to default your XP-M to a higher bus, getting past the wall around fsb 200, look up the L12 wire mod.
