The horror of having to openly communicate with women. The accuser claimed Aziz ignored her "non verbal clues" during the encounter.
I can see it now from now on.....for all guys.
"Miss..do I still have your full and unadulterated consent to kiss you"?
"Miss..do I still have your full and unadulterated consent to enter you"?
"Miss..do I still have your full and unadulterated consent to proceed"?
"Miss..do I still have your full and unadulterated consent to do it again"?
<camera zooms out and shows no one is in the room except the guy and the girl>
"Miss..do I still have your full and unadulterated statement that it was a full consensual counter, you were not under pressure and your utmost statement that you won't fill legal challenge in a later date"?

I might argue the concept of affirmative consent is also an abdication of active responsibility. A big part of sex positivism is being comfortable and confident in what you want. If nonverbal queues are failing, fucking speak up. The Atlantic article touched on this well. This whole thing is interesting because (taking the story as 100% truth) Aziz is clearly a horny can't take a hint creep with no game, and the girl is a weak victim incapable of exiting the situation even when presented with multiple chances. One wonders how clear these nonverbal signals were when she comes across so feeble in her own telling of events.Because it is silly. People are free to do it. It's not going to do anything to solve the problem.
It's also an abdication of active responsibility. Men could just act responsibly and respectfully and that would solve more of the problem. People in power don't want to have to think about what they're doing, they just want to give in to their basest impulses and desires without consideration. That needs to change.
Thanks, hadn't seen this one. This article is so insanely on point it hurts. What really infuriates me with nu-feminism is how much it infantilizes women and robs them of their agency, and this article does a good job discussing that. It takes two to tango. Guys need to get a fucking clue, but as long as there are women who don't seize their agency and stand up for themselves, there will be disgusting men whose behavior is reinforced by their "successful conquest" over them.

I also find it incredibly curious how much of a pass the media is giving Aziz in all the victim backlash think pieces considering how much his career and public persona is built around relationship commentary. While I don't think a career ending public shaming by the Twitterati is an even remotely appropriate response to a "bad date," when your personal actions contradict the persona you built your career around, well maybe you deserve it.

When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
Feels like != ishaha. What a novelty. If you're going to oppress someone, make sure you tell them they deserve it. Gee that's never happened before.
....What?
Feels like != is
What?
I think he's telling us that the social media lynch mob is a-okay.
It's enlightening to see the progressive victimhood hierarchy get hammered out. It's like watching sports. I'd thought brown-skinned people would rank above women, but now women, even white women which surprised me, take the lead. If only he'd been black, or better yet transgendered, he'd have given progressives more cause for consideration.
Boy, I hope Bruce Jenner never finds himself accused of unpleasant sex. Then progressives will really have a problem.
I thought it would take a little longer for the hit squad of privileged young white women to open fire on brown-skinned men. I had assumed that on the basis of intersectionality and all that, they’d stay laser focused on college-educated white men for another few months.

Sad to see that the movement has creeped into brown. Cosby being the exception of course.
Aziz-ansari did not deserve this public humiliation for some pedestal of starting a new conversation, via the hijacking of actual victims of abuse, sexual assault and rape. This new topic raises questions of coercion and why some people may consent to things they don't actually want. But this was a terrible way to start it.
This is a great point.I feel sorry for the young twenty-something men and women out there dating and never again being able to let something progress naturally.
The number of people using the word libtard here should probably have tipped you off about the number of non-thinkers and non-adults.Let's not be dense. I had this impression most of us were adults and capable of thought.
This is a great point.
What you describe as "naturally" is just traditional. It's appeal to antiquity, and it's an error in reason.
