I purchase the asus cusl2 kit 2days ago the kit came with the
motherboard and the processor already attached. processor pentium
3-800. It will not work at all. Nothing at boot up at all. I first
set the board up with all my expasion cards and hardrives everything.
it did not boot up I took them out one by one still would not boot.
the last time I tried I had the motherboard, processor, one hard drive
and memory still with not boot. I get nothing at all. Please someone
help me out. i have the motherboard set to jumpfree mode I did not
set any voltage for memory or cpu because the instruction said that if
it is set to jump free that I don't need to set these. The mother
board and processor are both getting power, the green light on the
mother board comes and the the fan on the processor runs My hardrives
spin but will not go to boot screen.

Did you take the hard drive from another system or did it come with your new system? Did it come from the retailer formatted with an OS installed? Do you get any sort of display when you turn the computer on? More info please?

So, you get no display when you power up? Does the monitor light come on, or does it stay in standby mode?

You're on the right track with stripping the system out. Just install the motherboard, RAM, cpus, hard drive, and video card. Pull everything out and reseat it. Once when I got my new motherboard, I had the same problem. I pulled the cpu out a few times, and that solved the problem. If you've been trying to fix this for two days, then you very well could have a dead cpu or mobo.

the monitor stays on standby. doesn't come on at all. I didn't pull the cpu out because it was already attached to the motherboard with a seal that said "warrenty void if removed"

Hmmm....that's no good. Well, if you've tried reseating the vid card and the RAM, then most likely the problem is the cpu. Call the company you bought it from, and explain your situation to them. I find it kind of ridiculous that they expect you to never remove the cpu from the mobo.

this motherboard has onboard video. I tried using my voodoo 3 3000 agp card when that did not work I removed the agp card and tried using the onboard video which didn't work either.

Have you tried starting the MoBo outside the cabinet. Could be a short of some sort. Check if any of the metal stand-offs between the MoBo and cabinet are creating a short. All the stand-offs should be under a mounting hole of the new MoBo. Sometimes different MoBo's have mounting holes at different locations.

Also turn MoBo upside down and shake it gently to check if any metal object (like a screw) maybe creating a short.

Check the RAM in another computer just to make sure that it's good. If the onboard video doesn't even work, then it's most definitely the cpu or mobo. Like I said, call the company you got it from, and explain your situation to them.

Also, some people have had that same problem when they cold boot. Next time you power it up, hit the reset a button a couple of times and see if that helps. If you can at least get some sort of display then you can go from there.

Ok. I tested the motherboard out of the case no luck. I test the motherboard with 3 video cards no luck. I tested the motherboard with five diffrent memory sticks (all pc133)I reset it about a hundred times and I even prayed for it no luck. The only thing left to do is return to sender. Thank you all for your replies. You help is very appreciated.

Dude, don't panic. CUSL2 has a problem with not using the onboard video card. You obviiously got into the bios to shut off the onboard video so you could use your voodoo 3. I've seen this happen to several CUSL2 boards. You have to short out the jumpers that reset the BIOS to default. Connect your monitor to the onboard video and go back into the BIOS and disable it again.

It should work fine this time.

Check that you have the power switch connector on properly.
make sure that you have shorted out the bios to reset everything and start with no video card.

OK, I had this problem when I bult my (first) rig 3 months ago. After a lot of hair pulling, it came down to a simple mistake I was making:

The power switch/power LED connectors were not correctly inserted. Thats it. Should fix your problem.

I think they mean to clear the CMOS or bios settings. You can do this thru some jumper that exists on the mobo for CMOS, or you can always try removing the battery for awhile (1/2 hour should clear it). You want to clear the bios settings whick will set them to the default values. Check your manual for CMOS jumper.

I removed the battery from the motherboard for 1 1/2 hour. I am planning to replace the battery connect one hard drive with operating system installed, connect only the power led and and the power supply to motherboard use one stick of memory and use the onboard video. Does anyone know of any problem that can be cause by booting using only this and not the other led switches.

You don't need the HD to be connected at this point. You need to get the video output first.

Just installl ram, cpu and cooler, and whatever video system you are using, either the on-board or video card. If you get a video signal, you then procede to set up the bios settings first.
