nVIDIA has yet to introduce their 780a series.

Waiting might be a good idea since their are still problems with 790FX platforms in general from what ive read.

The MA790FX has been good for me. Gigabyte still considers it an active product so bios updates are still coming through..

The biggest issue with the 790fx is the completely abysmal support of ddr1066..

My opinion is that without AMD whooping the crap outta intel for the better part of forever, we would not have the current crop of intels to enjoy. Frankly im glad to see amd putting out somthing competitive again as it just means that intel won't be able to sit on thier collective asses like they have recently. Ive always used intel as I am just more familiar with thier chipsets and what not. I am GLAD that AMD has managed to make somthing decent this time.

So good one on ya AMD let the chip wars commence anew.

maybe this board ;;

unless i do like i don't care & get Yorkie 9450

just don't get the 780g chipset for the 125 watt drain of the faster phenom !!

OlPal

It has nothing to do with the chipset...the problem was the motherboard designs. All of the mobo manufacturers are now scrambling to fix the problem, so I wouldn't get one this week...

I agree Viditor, i used a generality which needs correcting so as to not put a long term hex on this chipset !! Thanks for correcting my mistake as this is a major chipset for AMD & look'n good !!

Maybe; Motherboards as of now built with the 780G chipset are not capable power handling wise to run the 125 watt processors, without damaging the mofsets.. This chipset is the best that's come down the road for a long time for people who need real fast powerfull graphics machines !! Currently smokes intels video M/B offerings by probably a factor of 2. Plus you can add a 3450 video card for crossfire very cheaply using the on board graphics !!

@ cookie & byronm
i wonder if amd incorporates the new 700 B South bridge into their 790FX boards if it would solve those problems.. that MA790FX looks pretty good !!

Thanks for all Advice guys ;; OL'PAL GARY

*sigh* I wish the jerks over at E-VGA (or whoever is responsible) would release some frickin BIOS update for the 590a board. I do NOT want to have to buy ANOTHER mobo, I just bought this one 4 months ago and it works beautifully.

Not really.

Yes, but now that the differences have drastically narrowed (except power consumption), I'm seriously considering adding a P9850 to my arsenal. Since I've already got the PSU, HD, video card, and RAM, I'm seriously considering it. Besides, #5 shouldn't even be an issue for anyone who's ever owned an A64, or knows their way around a BIOS.

No. The B3 has ~ equal power performance, a slightly higher price tag (although lower than the B2 when it was released), a much higher maximum overclock, much better performance, and is much easier to overclock. Not sure what made you think that the B2 is better than the B3. If you are talking about something else, then I doubt you really even read the original post.
