Question B650 motherboard's which one

Hey everyone, I've spent countless hours looking at B650 motherboards trying to decide which one to get, there is a bunch of sales coming up over the next couple weeks so I'm trying to get a short list in case some of these are at a really good price.
So far I think my setup will be Ryzen 7 7800x3d with a RX 7800xt Gpu I'm going to use the NZXT H6 flow RGB case with a NZXT kraken elite 280mm cooler

I'd like to stick with a Gigabyte MB but open to anything good. What i'm looking at is

Gigabyte Aorus B650 ELITE AX
Gigabyte B650 Aero G
ASRock B650 Steel Legend WIFI
ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F Gaming WIFI

Some have better VRM some has PCIe 5.0 etc none seem to have everything so not really sure if anyone is better then the other, so Maybe it just comes down to which ever one is on the best sale ?
The Steel legend may have the best overall option but I Never used ASRock before and don't know much about them. the elite AX will probably be the best price the Aero g the highest but I like that one better, and the ROG STRIX just seems pretty solid. but again never used asus and not sure how good they are.

open to all opinions on what you guys like the best and why even if its not on my list I'm open to all opinions.

I have been using ASRock for years with multiple builds and never had an issue with them. I've used the steel legend with Intel and other models for different purposes. Currently using the PG Lightning with a 7900X. Picked it up for $160 on Amazon as someone returned it without upgrading the uefi which is probably why they returned it. It did take testing 2-3 versions before finding the right one that worked 100%.

My daughter's build has the B650 Elite AX. It's not bad. There were some quirks early on but those seem to have settled down with the some BIOS updates. I prefer the MSI board in my build though. It's been solid with no issues that I can recall. Same with my son's B550 MSI board, rock solid. I seem to be in the minority that likes MSI though.

ASUS has terrible street cred over RMA practices right now so I'd avoid that until they reform their customer care.

It has great reviews on Newegg.

When trying to determine a motherboard in today's lineup I think you should always start with the number of M.2 slots you need (unless you have some really specific needs). Then make sure they each have the speed you are looking for. On that board they list them as:

1 PCIe 5x4
1 PCIe 4x4
1 PCIe 3x2

So the third M.2 is faster than SATA, but sower than the other 2 slots. It also only has 1 internal USB header which can be an issue if you use any fan/RGB controllers and an AIO that require it.

But it has tons of rear USB ports, 2.5Gb LAN, a nice VRM, BIOS flashback, and it looks great. So if everything else fits your needs I don't see why you shouldn't consider it.

Thank you, I actually seen that, one of the reasons I was interested, But as In2Photos pointed out , which I didn't realize is it only has 1 internal USB header. Thats sucks because I am running and AiO and RGB fans etc. Thanks

What is your budget, and what features/board layout do you need? Buy that board.

Personally I ended up with a X670E instead of a B650E because the few bucks saved wasn't worth it for a platform that will last me however long a Zen6 platform is relevant.

You can always get a splitter but if the cost of the board and splitter are more than the next board with the headers built in it may not be worth it. What AIO and RGB fans are you planning to use? Not all of them require USB. My Deepcool LT720 for example does not. It only has a pump header and an RGB header. Anything with an LCD screen will require one I believe.

I figure in the end I spending between $1500 and 2k CDN lol probably closer to 2k when its all said and done So honestly my goal is to buy the best I can when its on sale.

I just bought the NZXT elite RGB 280 AIO reg. $350 on sale for $150 so I grabbed it, the only other component I order is a SSD WD_BLACK™ SN850X NVMe™ SSD, reg $210 to $240ish picked it up for $125

My plan for the rest of the build is Ryzen 7 7800x3d motherdoard? NZXT H6 flow case, if the RGB case comes on sale I get that and run the NZXT fans in it, otherwise I'll get the bare case and put RGB fans in it not sure who's fans I'll run though,

The SN850x obviously has faster read and write speeds 7300 and 6300 vs the MP44l 5000 and 4500. overall will that make much of a difference and the MP44L lists NVMe 1.4 TLC what is that all about ? does it really mean anything lol the MP44L is $95 the SN850x is $125 is the WD worth the extra . thanks

The team drive iirc uses a phison controller which is good for short bursts but sustained transfers drop off quickly.

I use a SN850/SN770 for my primary/backup OS drives. There's a difference between them as the 850 has dram and the 770 doesn't. However, in certain testing scenarios the 770 performs better.

You won't notice a difference unless you're constantly doing disk I/O, and that's generally not the case for consumer or gaming use cases.

The SN850x is one of the very best SSDs in its class. Since you're putting together what I'd call a high mid-range build, I'd get the SN850x over the TEAM Group SSD.

FWIW you don't really need the AIO, and a case could be made to shift that money over to 2TB storage instead.

For instance even though both of my drives are in the 6GB range within the same system across the bus the most I see is 2 but, crossing to thunderbolt I can get 3.3 out of them. The only time you get the max is benchmarks.

Thank you and I agree, really didn't need an AIO and money could have been spent better elsewhere, However I'd like to build a PC this time that looks really cool to, so I'm playing that balance. plus my wife likes the looks of a glass case and the RGB light's, so you know what they say, happy wife new PC lol. but she'll play games on it too, my plan with SSD probably not a good one , but I'm going to put the 1TB in now and then down the road a few months 6 months whatever I can always add another 2TB or whatever I may need.

If you want to pack a punch and capacity look at the U.2/U.3 NVME drives. I swapped out my spinners for a 16TB one which is 4X faster and don't have to do raid to get beyond 8TB w/ M2's.
