last night, we gave the 3wk old a bath ... we?ve been doing it once a week
this morning ... he had shit ALL the way up his back. like to his neck.
all over his clothes ... barely got them off without getting shit all over his head
so I wipe him all down with wipes, thinking I should just bathe him again
then wipe down the changing area ... and re-wipe ... like 5 times until I get the shit off him and the area and make sure he's totally clean

babies look clean sometimes, but you wipe them and there's more shit that somehow is hiding on their skin

anyways ... he's crying the entire time
I go back and forth, stomach, back, flipping him to clean
... flip him on his back ... and he starts laughing ...

PEEEE PEEEEEE

I had him covered the entire time, except that moment.
I caught it, but didn't know where it shot out to ... (didn't hit me - phew)
so then there was piss all over his back and flooded the changing area ... and it shot onto his crib a little ...
soooooooo ... do it all over again.
then the wife wanted to put clothes back on him and I said hell no, let's let him dry off for a bit and make sure all is well again ...

You're looking at it from the wrong perspective.

Baby Blieb is thinking, "Baby Poop WIN!"

I'm about to be there man.

Only 6 weeks until my wife is due....

Someone got us one of these for our baby shower just because of the peeing while changing issue.

Whats up with the referral link that gets auto put in Amazon links here?

Done!

What are the soap and paint mixer for? Just put the baby in a 5 gallon bucket of water and your problems will be gone!

BTW thanks for reminding me why I never want children.

How about you backup that statement. There is ZERO reason to bathe an infant more than 2-3 times a week and doing so will CAUSE skin issues.. Once a week is fine.

Just would like to say that it might work for the first 6-8 weeks but after that, it is worthless. A simple cloth diaper is easier and cheaper.

Yeah this can cause skin dryness and crankier babies.

since I have infinitely more wisdom on the subject as the father of a 4 1/2 week old, I feel qualified to comment.

Yes, the little bastard will wait until the exact moment fresh air hits to unleash his stream of fury. I think I went six changes in a row last week where he peed mid-change.

The kid does not want to soak himself when there is a fresh target available.

My daughter is 11 weeks old. During her first 2 weeks she surpirsed me a couple of times by peeing mid diaper change. Decent distance, too. She's gotten my wife and I a couple times before we got wise to her antics.

Her record is 4 diapers in one change.

My advice is to change diaper brands. Some seem to fit better than others on your baby. After you find the right ones for your baby, check out diapers.com

I envy you guys that are having this problems now. Imagine going through this kind of hassle with a 7 almost 8 year old.

unless there is shit lines up that kids back... i think the more important issue would be checking the diaper more often to avoid that happening as bad. all 3 of my kids have had that happen to a point, especially when going from formula to food, and then again to solid food. i didnt even try to wipe it all up, just stripped em and in the bath. the funniest one was when we had family visiting. old ladies with opinions on everything were getting on my nerves, one of my twins let ouot one of those grunts i knew was going to make me have to clean up, old lady wanted to hold her a bit longer. bounced her on her knee and it squirted into her lap. i had already warned her of tummy issues that day, but she would have nothing of it. she handed her off to me almost instantly when she saw the stain and smelled that formula poop.

Haha, welcome to parenthood. The amount of laundry involved with new babies is ridiculous.

- we bathed our twins everyday when they were newborns (summer heat = bathtime = comfort) and continue to do so now at 10 months. The younger (by 5 mins) one had skin issues, but the older did not. We saw a pediatric dermatologist and he said bathing so often is not the problem. Baby eczema is just random and simply not bathing them for longer periods doesn't help it go away. If it's heat rash that's another story... and bathing less frequently is still not the answer. The younger one's eczema was a lot better over the winter when the skin is actually dryer so there goes that theory.

- if you get pee'd on mid-diaper change, the trick is to open up the diaper for a quick second then close it back up while you prep your new diaper (vaseline)... then go back to removing the old one. Our guys have always pee'd right after it is taken off (and also right when they go in the bath)... there are no more surprises... I haven't been pee'd on in months (that's what she said).

At first it was everyday but now we're down to every other day.
