We have some "pee pee tee pees" but they are insanely small. Sure they cover the wang, but when he's flailing his arms and legs, the little Papa Smurf sized hat is no match.

I envy you guys that are having this problems now. Imagine going through this kind of hassle with a 7 almost 8 year old.

Are you serious!?

You should be bathing that kid more than once a week :|

How about you backup that statement. There is ZERO reason to bathe an infant more than 2-3 times a week and doing so will CAUSE skin issues.. Once a week is fine.

unless there is shit lines up that kids back... i think the more important issue would be checking the diaper more often to avoid that happening as bad. all 3 of my kids have had that happen to a point, especially when going from formula to food, and then again to solid food. i didnt even try to wipe it all up, just stripped em and in the bath. the funniest one was when we had family visiting. old ladies with opinions on everything were getting on my nerves, one of my twins let ouot one of those grunts i knew was going to make me have to clean up, old lady wanted to hold her a bit longer. bounced her on her knee and it squirted into her lap. i had already warned her of tummy issues that day, but she would have nothing of it. she handed her off to me almost instantly when she saw the stain and smelled that formula poop.

LMAO! One time he RIPPED one and I saw a spot on my undershirt ... thought he got me ... ends up it was just dirt ... this morning he was grunting something fierce, we waited about 5-10 mins after he stopped. Guess it was just the sheer volume of the load and being a wiggle worm.

We don't use them as "cloth diapers" but more like a general-use cover/wipe. They are very versatile - you can use them to wipe or to cover for pee while changing - they wash easily, absorb quickly, and if it gets really bad they are cheap enough to throw away. They are pretty big sheets that you can cut up and use for whatever else.

Going back to that peeing while changing though, the change only takes a minute at most so covering it with anything would be an extra step stalling the change process. If you open up and close like I mentioned before it should get them to pee into the old diaper.

Where do you get your info? Every baby I know was washed typically more then 2-3 times a week, many every day or more with no skin issues. Once a week? Where do you get this information?

Our pediatrician in CA told us the same thing. Once every few days is fine. Until the kid is old enough to actually start running around working up a sweat and getting dirty, there's not a lot to clean except the occasional diaper explosion.

Everyone is different ... believe me, if my kid was filthy he'd be gettin' a bath!

How often should I bathe my baby?
Although some parents bathe their babies every day, until yours is crawling around and getting into messes, a bath isn't really necessary more than once or twice a week. (Just wash his face frequently and thoroughly clean his genital area after each diaper change.) When you do bathe him, you may find it a little scary to handle your wiggly little one when he's all soapy and slippery, so keep a good grip. Most babies find the warm water very soothing.

Do you put on skin lotion/baby oil after the bath?

We saw a pediatric dermatologist and he said bathing so often is not the problem. Baby eczema is just random and simply not bathing them for longer periods doesn't help it go away. If it's heat rash that's another story... and bathing less frequently is still not the answer. The younger one's eczema was a lot better over the winter when the skin is actually dryer so there goes that theory.

- if you get pee'd on mid-diaper change, the trick is to open up the diaper for a quick second then close it back up while you prep your new diaper (vaseline)... then go back to removing the old one. Our guys have always pee'd right after it is taken off (and also right when they go in the bath)... there are no more surprises... I haven't been pee'd on in months (that's what she said).

Haha, welcome to parenthood. The amount of laundry involved with new babies is ridiculous.
At first it was everyday but now we're down to every other day.

We have twin boys as well, and I'd agree with rh71 on this. We've always bathed them every day and continue to do so, as it relaxes them, gets them in the routine of bath/jammies/bed each day. I asked our pediatrician about the bath frequency and she said daily is perfectly fine, though you don't HAVE to do it that often. She said every 2 - 3 days is fine.

Nice thing about as a grandparent is you get to choose if you want to change the child or let the parent(s) do it.
