That was this AM.

So I would assume he has sold out.

He has been sold out since 17:14 PDT yesterday. There is nothing I can do about that.

The 4 heatpipe sell quick and are normally priced above $25. At this price im surprised they lasted as long as they did.

He should get more eventually. This was the second 4 Heatpipe HSF I've purchased from this seller. Last batch was 14 April. You can set up ebay to watch for auctions from this seller and send you emails listing their auctions. Another seller that has these occasionally is heatsink_outlet.

He has listed more. There are 9 left. Get one while they last. Please get only one so that others can get 1 too.

seems lame to charge $8.00 for the hs/fan and a whopping $12 shipping and handling PER unit , even if buy more than one. I would be in for a few of these if the guy gave a fair ship rate for several in one box.

That is a fleabay tactic, so they don't pay more for their item to flebay. S&H don't count, which is why sometimes you see the product cost $2, and S&H is $30.

Thanks Navid,
I just ordered one.
This is a great heat sink for $20 shipped.
(I don't care how he wants to split it up it's still $20 to my door.)

Whats the best method for removing the thermal pad if you want to use a better thermal paste? I know, high concentration rubbing alcohol...but there is like 2 tons of this ****** on there and you end up with a massive smeary sticky hairy mess. I couldnt figure it out...had a freind with the same issue, and he tried hot water. Bad idea. It removed allot of it but activated the ****** and pretty much ruined the thermal conductivity of the heatsink...you can see fingerprints and a big darker patch and swirl marks where the junk got all swirled around from him trying to remove it. Im hoping mine doesnt end up that way.

Something that Ive always kinda wondered...these heatpipe coolers use a liquid that evaporates and gets cooled by the HS/F returns to liquid and drops back down to get evaporated again. Sounds all cool in theory, but how the ****** can these work when mounted sideways? Are you guys laying your computers on their sides? If not how is this providing any better cooling than a standard heatsink?

Like Navid suggested, ArtiCleaner from the Artic Silver people works easily and well. Unless you are constantly cleaning thermal material, the small bottles will last for many cleanings.

I've always used lighter fluid for this (the kind used in a zippo lighter). The first pass I use a paper towel that I've sprayed damp and wipe the HS until it is mostly clean, then repeat with Q-Tips dipped in lighterfluid until spotless. The lighter fluid evaporates shortly, just make sure you don't smoke while doing it.

Google is your friend: How does a heatpipe work?

scrape the compound off with a razor blade, following by rubbing alcohol. Wouldn't it be a better deal to get a Arctic Cooling 64 pro (with 6 heatpipes and a near-silent fan) for $22-24 shipped?

jlin, if you want to be able to use your own fan or just to save a few bucks then get the AMD HSF, otherwise the AC unit is pretty nice. BTW, here's a mATX system where the Arctic Cooling unit will not fit. I'm using one of the AMD units with a Thermaltake Starforce fan.

For removing OEM thermal paste I just use tissue and elbow grease - basically I just rub it off with tissue and some effort. I don't obsess over any leftover stuff. These things actually do use thermal compound and not the waxy or rubbery stuff that sucks.

I've actually wondered about this myself. Don't sweat it too much because modern heatpipes are designed to be near 100% effective no matter how they are oriented because of the various effects of surface tension, capillary action and wicking... the interior of the heatpipe surface has "something" on it to help the liquid equalize to the hot end, often a metallic sponge-like coating.
