How do you use an online staples coupon in their physical store? I'm guessing that if I walked into staples to buy a scanner and said "oh, I have this code from your web page and I should get $20 or $30 off," they'd laugh at me saying "what the hell you talking about?"

So - how do you use an online code in a physical store?

Bart:

I was at the store and the Scanners had a huge display on a corner. It said that it was 9.98 after 50 off. It turns out that both rebates need the UPC.

Check it out. At the top of the Staples Rebate Form it says:

To Receive Rebate:
1. Print and Fill Out Form
2. Include UPC and Sales Receipts in an envelope
3. Mail to: Staples Rebate ( Dept. 01-34020 ), P.O. BOX 9012, Coppell TX 75019

BUT at the Bottom it says:

Please attach the following product information to the rebate entry form:
Original or a copy of the UPC Code

So is a copy suitable?

I just came back from Staples with the scanner.
The original UPC goes to PrimaScan, and yes, you
*can* use a copy of the UPC for the Staples rebate.

I am also curious. How do you use online coupons at the B&M store. THNX

I just bought one, too. To iterate Gypsy, make sure you get both rebate forms. $30 PrimaScan Scanner Rebate (dark blue) and $20 Visioneer Colorado Flatbed Scanner 36 (red). The Visioneer rebate indicates you can mail in a copy of the UPC barcode, hence $60 + tax - $30 - $20...

Newbie to these forums here.

Just bought the scanner from Staples today and the $20 is instant off (not MIR). So my cost is $59.98 - $20.00 = $39.98. Used a $10 off $30 Staples coupon which I got in the mail = $29.98 + 6% tax = $31.78, now all I need to do is mail in for the $30.00 rebate.

So final cost becomes $1.78!

I bought one today at a local B&M Staples. As mentioned in the above post, they took $20.00 off the $59.98 at the register and gave me a PrimaScan MIR form for $30.00 off. Total for me was/will be $9.98 + tax, or about $12.00 for a USB scanner. It lists as compatible with Win98 and Win2000, and it basically installed itself on my WinME system. Incidentally, this Staples was in Pittsburgh, PA, and they had a mess of scanners. Everyone there was buying either the scanner, the Maxtor hd, or the combination HP computer/monitor/printer/MSN sign-me-up-in-blood contract. I was silly and didn't walk out with the free Logitech gamepad that they were bluntly giving away, but I was in a hurry... doh!

I combined this deal with the $50 instant rebate on purchase of Omnipage Pro 10 and a scanner; I've been looking for a good deal on OPP10. Software was supposed to be $80 with a $20 mail-in rebate in the box. Since there was no rebate in my OPP 10 box, they sold me the software for $60, then gave me a $50 instant credit on the purchase of the scanner.

Scanner $60
Omni Page 10 $60
Instant Rebate <$50> (Software/Scanner combo)
Mail in Rebates<$50> (Scanner)

My total $20

I know that I could have saved a few more bucks with a coupon.

I called STAPLES today.. they are MAILING me my 30$ primascan rebate from the store..
and yes.. the primascan rebate gets the orig. upc.. and the staples one gets the COPY.

They also said the INSTANT rebate of 20$ was the stores way of saying..we DONT have the 20$ rebate.. and we are saving face by giving you 20$ off.

O well.. that was just a per store decision, not a staples-wide deal (to give 20$ instantly off)

Has anyone used this scanner yet? I haven't hooked it up yet..
any tips on how to get the BEST and clearest scans from it ?

i'm going to run by staples after work tonight and try to get the primascan rebate coupon. i'm also going to hit compusa again.

maybe i can pick up another wingman or ezusb camera.

on a funny note, the staples i bought my scanner at had a table full of the items that were free after rebate. a customer asked a customer service rep about the usb camera and he told him they were all out. i made the customer's day by directing him to the last one on the table.

Just got back from Staples B&M in Mobile, AL. They had about 75 of these scanners. I picked up 5. Made the CSR ring it up under 5 different credit cards and I have 5 different addresses for 5 rebates. Im likin this deal. We are gonna use them as giveaways at a conference in our industry. Pretty nice giveaways huh ??? On top of that , we take the tax write off for the full amount and then get the rebate cash back and put it in our personal account. HOT AS HE*L DEAL FOR ME !!!!

Regarding Speed and quality...

Scanner is easy to install (USB rocks...usually). I found the scanner to be faster than my SCSI Microtek XL6, but I was not as impressed with the quality of the scan. Didn't have a lot of time to play with it, so it could just be my settings.

Pagis Pro Software is kind of cool. It funkifies Windows Exploder to add a thumbnail view to specific folders you identify. This is great, as long as your PC has enough oomph to handle all the image processing (shouldn't be a problem in this forum).

Haven't had a chance to play with Photosuite yet...

I have the $30 PrimaScan rebate scanned. I'll be happy to email it to you if you need it.

Just picked this up from my local B&M Staples. The setup was bad I thought. It took quite a bit of blind clicking on the driver CD to get the twain driver to work. Tip: make sure to go in to the driver folder on the CD and click on usb.exe even after the windows drivers are installed when you plug the USB cable in. usb.exe installs the twain drivers so your scanner or photoshop programs can find the darn scanner. The quality isn't half bad. Not too slow for USB either. One more thing...

Anyone know of a freebie "one click" photo copying program that'll turn the scanner and my laser printer in to a "photo copier"? The one that comes with the scanner is like 4 clicks... yeah, I'm picky

Personally, I like Buzzsoft's product, Softcopier Pro. However, that costs $40. Astalavista, if you know what I mean.

I just got my new toy home too. Not bad for a $13 scanner (rotten taxes). I have one question about this thing though.

Other than un-plugging it....How do I turn the thing off?

No switches and I don't have a switched space left on my "Belkin" Surgemaster (another freebie).

PM me if you don't want to make me look any dumber than I feel already.
