A $100 blender for $40. Free Super Saver Shipping. Could be $10 if you do the Amazon Credit Card thing. We need a new blender (the current one gets really hot and makes a burning smell if you run it too long), this should be just about as good as you can get.

Edit: black appears to be sold out, new link to white (use drop-down to choose other colors)

Edit: Thanks to McPhreak for noticing the price drop to $30. How do I go about getting a refund for the difference? I couldn't find anything on the site.

Edit: Thanks to Bacinator for finding the new link.

I bought one of these the last time they were on sale. It's a fantastic blender! The only complaint I have (aside from the short warranty period due to it being a refurb) is that the all-glass mixing jar (yes, quality glass!) is a bit heavy when you're washing it by hand.

Guess you shoulda spent more time lifting weights then typing when in school huh? j/k

Me personally love the glass jar. But I got me one of them fancy new fangled things they call dishwashers. Or as G-Dub calls it a dishwarsher.

Might be great, can't say, but I wouldn't personally buy other than an Osterizer blender. I've had others but they all burned out when I put a serious load on them. My Osterizer (one of the cheaper models) has been thrashing its way through everything for must be around 15 years now.

In for a chrome one. My gf's been wanting a good blender for ages now since our current one stinks. Thanks.

SAVE YOUR MONEY. I'm sorry to say, but this blender just plain sucks. IMO, it's not a hot deal even if it's free.

I bought one of these a while back, and it was truly awful. I thought I was upgrading from my 20-year old Hamilton Beach blender, but I was wrong--the cheapo blender works much, MUCH better.

Due to the poor design of the KitchenAid container, this blender is not able to blend a drink with ice in it. Sure, the motor is powerful, but no matter how long it blends, there are always chunks of ice left floating around in there.

On a positive note...since it's heavy, it would make a nice paperweight.

Humm, a refurb blender...no thinks...I'd rather not use a product other people have put food in...

I know that this might be seen as a thread crap, so please avert your eyes if you are sensetive...

I have to agree that I bought this blender thinking it was an upgrade...It's not.

the two issues I have are this.

1) It would overheat a lot. My wife makes smoothies every morning for the kids and I would come down stairs to the smell of burnt motor on a regular basis. It never seemed to effect how the blender ran, but I just knew we were killing it on a regular basis.
2) the way the blender comes apart (jar from blades) is way too easy. You only need to twist it like 30 degrees for it to come completely apart. Which is a good thing if you are in such a hurry to open it up and clean it that you can't spend the extra 30 seconds on a few twists...the down side I found is that a lot of people who are unfamiliar with this type of blender will naturally twist it to take it off the base. I've done it a few times and friends have done it a dozen or so times. The result is always the same...2" of margarita on the floor.

we replaced it with a "cheap" blender and have been happy ever since.

my 2 cents.

I don't think those are thread craps since you guys have first hand experience with these items. However, the overall impressions both on amazon and epinions seem to be pretty favorable and since it's so cheap, I guess I'll take my chances. Thanks for your input.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't come up with a basic Osterizer for that money locally. That's what I'd get without a doubt. To make it smell from the motor windings burning you have to do something really hairy like make peanut butter or other nut butters, and I do that anyway and have many many times. That's the only time mine smells. I have NEVER burned out an Osterizer.

They come with glass containers, a big plus. I have a fantastic attachment (plastic with associated steel blade) that cost me $10 years ago that does various food processing. I use it strictly to grind my own beef or pork. Works great! I never buy ground meat anymore. I trim a roast and grind it with the blender + attachment.

I purchased two of the refurbed Kitchenaids, one for me, and one for my mom. They have been going very, very strong for 2 & 4 years.

I mix a _lot_ of protein shakes, including with ice and frozen fruit, and these do a fabulous job, and are far superior to $40 models you would get at a place like WalMart.

McPhreak, thanks for the info, I followed the instructions and got some static about price match blah blah crap no we're not going to do it. Oh well.

Got my blender in yesterday. I find that it crushes ice just fine. I like the design of the pitcher. It's very wide, so you can put bigger frozen-together chunks of ice that would get stuck in a narrower pitcher. And the bottom turns about 1 1/2 turns (540 degrees) before coming off... they must have fixed that flaw. But it's nice because the design of it means that you don't have to turn the pitcher/bottom at all to take it off of the base. Just lift straight up and it comes off. It has a *bit* of a burning motor smell that I'm hoping will go away after an initial burn-in period, but nothing like the smells that came from our crappy old Hamilton Beach.

Anyway, deal is dead now... only red is in stock at $69.
