I bought some of this, and a couple of their 60x15 CPU heatsink fans for 1.99ea, but they did hit me with shipping once I added the fans. Pretty quick shipping and the fans are decent for replacements on old heatsinks.
Never tried anything else besides the regular thermal grease. $5 seems a little expensive for 3.5g of stuff like this but I guess I can just skip dinner for one day and find out if it was really worth the $5.40.

I ordered this from the company when it was first advertised and they shipped it out the next business day. I was also suprised to the size of the tube but like what was stated before you just need a small amount so it should last many cpu's.
If you've got AS3 right now, it's not worth getting AS5. If you're using anything older (AS2) or any sort of generic thermal grease, AS5 is a noticable improvement.
I went from using Antec brand silver compound to AS5 and it seemed to lower temps about 5 degrees F. What really impressed me was how fast the temps dropped after removing the load on the CPU. This indicated to me that the AS5 really transfered heat very quickly. I was skeptical, now I am impressed.
I remember buying my first tube of AS (3) in a similar deal a couple years ago. I?m still using it. I?ll bet you can get 50 uses out of one tube if you do it the right way. Application Instructions for Premium Silver Thermal Compound
If you can find the white plastic toothpicks that look like a hockey stick, they work perfect as a spreader.
I just ordered one. Thanks.
