I agree with Tchen811.

Rimshaker nobody is interested in your bashing at this point. The issue here is not the quality of the palm/ibm vs. the visor. The issue is what has been delivered by the vendor.

What for? My intentions weren't to bash this product. I was simply giving practical advice (product vs. price comparisons) to anyone with a little common sense. Now that i've waited and read several bad experiences with this 'hot deal' i'm supposed to just stfu?? Heh, it's still not too late to pick up a visor edge at BB

Yes, in reality, the Asian ones are better, you just need to flash the OS back to English (find someone with the same unit but in English, perform a ROM backup, then restore it on your unit - Please do not contact me for instructions, I will not answer, but there are plenty of resources online that explains this). After that, you are left with 2 extra MB of flash ROM in your unit, and with the program called "JackFlash" you can use this memory to store programs or static databases (yes, unlike PocketPC, the extra flash ROM on the Palm Vx can be used by the user). Again, do not contact me regarding OS backup/restore, files, or anything software related to this Palm pilot, I WILL SIMPLY IGNORE YOU.

I must have been lucky.. I got my C3 and it was fine-- very happy with it. Guess it shows there was a wide range of stuff that came out of the Overstock shipment.

In regard to flashing the OS to get rid of foreign languages, you people may want to read my post in the IBM C3 thread over at FW. There's some info there that may help you guys out.

Why you making such a big deal out of it? Not like you're the only one around here who knows how to do ROM replacement, or knows what to do with 2 unused mb's of ROM. You don't work for Palm, so stop making yourself sound important.... how bout we just ignore YOU instead??

Who pissed in your cereal this morning? For someone who's not interested in the deal, you sure spend a bit of effort in the thread. Look, you've made it abundantly clear that the Edge is a good alternative to the Overstock C3s -- you've made your point.

Good advice. :disgust:

tenchim, thanks, and well-said.

btw, I probably was one of the first people around to own a Handspring Visor, and no I don't work for Palm, nor do I think they make great hardware --> I am a Sony Clie fan, a big one for that matter! But I still believe this is a hot deal for those who got what they were expecting, an OEM-boxed brand new Palm Vx for under $94 shipped (incl. coupon)!
We are still talking about the smallest Palm device on earth; no the Toshiba e310 is still HUGE compared to the Palm Vx.

And the reason I refused to answer anybody regarding how to backup/restore the ROM has nothing to do with knowledge, it's all easily accessible. I just don't have the time to do Tech Support for everybody, it's very time consuming, and you can get the answers straight from Palm, or from various PDA forums.
