Why can't the OP just finish the question in the title so I'll know if I want to click on the thread or not...

Very annoying...

FWIW I used to sell 286s when amber monitors were the shiznit. I remember when the RAM factory blew up in Korea and 1M strips went from $50 to $100 overnight.

Ha.. Ditto. They are slowly throwing them out, but it's hard to say goodbye to a machine that is over a decade old.. They still have a few Pentium classic machines there in use.. It's sad

You just had a case with a turbo button if it was a 486. It had long since done nothing.

IIRC, without the turbo button on, the computer would slow down to 4.77MHz, so you could use older games and such. With it pushed, you had 8MHz.

They may have made it do similar things into the 386 days, but I'm not sure.

Many 486 and Pentium machines actually did use the button and it did control clock speed. There were also a vast majority that did nothing..

First computer had a tape drive, and the only thing that we ever got running on it was asteroids. Not sure where we got it or what the deal was, but I was very young. Then later on yes, we had a turbo button computer. Once again, really not sure why we had it.
