so after so many years of junior tennis, thousands and thousands of golf swings, surfing and what not my back is killing me. I've tried everything and then today I tried the inversion table with gravity boots. Probably the best my back has felt in awhile (which isn't sayiny much). So they run about $400 . I'd gladly pay that much if I knew it worked for reals and the result wasn't some placebo effect. Does this work for anyone else with back probs. Where does one find for one cheap?

Ummm, have you seen Back To the Future Part 2? Its very possible! In fact, Marty Mcfly Sr. uses them because of an accident in tennis!

Your abdominal muscles are the core of your back problems...you have to work on your abs, and your back will be ok.
Unless you have some serious disk related problems. Get thee to a gym, and your back problems will eventually go away...

Have you tried working out and doing exercise to strengthen your back muscles? My lower back used to be so sore it wasn't comfortable to sleep. Then I started working out and, in my theory, strengthened my back muscles enough to support myself.

Yep, nothing sadder than someone walking around with a gut hanging over their belt complaining about their aching back.

Not that this is the problem of holden j caufield and I'm not accusing him of being like that.

The inversion tables are great. My bro-in-law has arthritis in his back and he swears by his inversion table. Look around we found him a decent one on the internet for $180 shipped. Good Luck.

Whenever someone mentions back pain I get a chill remembering how my own "Back pain" came close to killing me....

I had been having what I thought were back spasms on and off for a while and finally after a two day spasm I found myself in the emergency room with a doc explaining that I needed emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder :Q it had gone gangrenous and was ready to pop

I had no idea that was the problem, I swear I thought it was back pain, it would flare up and subside, and felt like someone grabbed ahold of my back muscles and was twisting them just a little lower than the middle and on the right side.

See a doctor just to be sure.

Marty McFly Sr. is the Michael J. Fox that gets fired for conspiring with Needles (Flea). It's George McFly that comes into the house upside down with the bad back wearing the gravity boot contraption. Get your BTTF right dammit!

Yeah, I think you need to check your spelling, but some good 'ol pain killers ought to do the trick and fvck you up for the rest of the day too. Drugs are fun!

try a combination of Extra Strength Doans (muscle relaxant/ OTC) and Tiger Balm (or Ben Gay). I have a yoga device called an "Archeez" that allow one to gently stretch the back -- it works really well for me

I was diagnosed with lateral traction spurs about 6 years ago. Basically it is calcium buildup on my spine. + I have 3 compressed diskes. The only thing that I have found to offer me lasting relief is to put a sheet of plywood between my matress and boxsprings. I suffered for 3 or 4 years and my mom said I should try the plywood, but I thought it was some old wives tale type of thing. Thankfully I did try it and I am doing very well now. Still though if I do very much lifting or pulling/pushing it will flare up and hurt like the dickens.

So in short try plywood. Will cost less than $20.00 in most places.

Will

P.S. You will probably have to cut it to your bed specs, but most places like lowes or home depot will do it for you for free.

I have the "gravity boots." The rack is bolted ontop of the door. You just throw the boots on...2 straps...stap it on tight and jump on...very easy getting on and off. Once you're up...you lower slowly down to a an inverted position..just hanging there...almost completely free. It feels great to stretch ...turn left right etc. Cost me ~$140 like 1.5 years ago on EBAY. PLus you can use it for chinups. Or do those upside crunches and work your abs if you'd like.

I don't trust anyone named Holden Caufield. He's probably trying to catch some kids before they jump off a cliff in a field or trying to find out where the ducks go during the winter. He's a crazy mofo, CRAZY!

My Sensei uses one of those tables that you hook your feet to then lean back and it inverts you... He says it works...

It actually does make your back feel a little better...don't jump right into it though or you'll get dizzy

Don't slouch. Always ahve a straight back. shoulders back and never rolled over forwards. When sitting down do the same and have a good chair that supports your lower back as well.

Get one of those pull up bars you can fix to a door. Hang on that that will relieve pressure off your back. Thats good.

Some exercises you can do for your back to strengthen it. Do these two times a day.

You see in pr0n when the girls go doggy style? Well you do the same. But this time arch your back up for about 5 seconds tucking your chin in to your chest. Then now do the exact opposite after you've held it for 5 seconds. Arch your back down and stick your head up but not TOO far back as you don't want to be having your neck too far back. Do this 5 times. ARching it up and down is one set. Do this five times.

Next sit on a chair and then have your arms crossed in front of you but still on your chest. Then lean over to one side but making sure your back is straight and your still in the same plane. You do not want to be leaning forwards or backwards. You are leaning to the side. Do this to one side for five seconds then do it to the other side. Again repeat for 5 reps.

Have your arms crossed in the same position but then twist your body DO NOT twist fast. Twist to you can not twist any further. Hold for 5 seconds. Now move 'SLOWLY' to the other side and how the same twist but on the other side. Do this 5 times on each side.

Do this morning/ afternoon and when you get back from work.

This is what the physiotherapist had me do for 4 weeks. I did see her once a week though. This was when I had back pains a few years back. Ended up a trap nerve in my lumber no4! that caused leg pains after exercise.

Do strengthen your abbs though.

I'd see a Dr and see if they'll refer you to a physio......

The only thing I have found that works for my back is an anti-inflamitory called Vioxx. Instead of my back hurting for 2-3 weeks its better after 2-3 days. I have also been doing crunches with weight to build up my abs to help support my lower back.

Get thee to a doctor before you do anything.
Back pain is a sign that something is amiss and not neccessarily your back.
You can cripple yourself if not careful.
