Man, I wish Newegg would learn to take one or two pics with the drive trays in, then pull the drive trays out and take a couple more pics, so we can see what's underneath!

You can also download the manual and the "quick guide" from the Shuttle Site.

I am curious about how much noise this system generates. Has anyone actually seen (heard?) one of these running?

In the past, I've built several Shuttles and have been relatively satisfied. Though, I've always thought that they could have been quieter. With an external power supply, I'd expect this to be relatively quiet.

Another question, the Shuttle Web Site shows a stand. But the Newegg photos don't show a stand. Anyone know if the stand would be included with the Newegg deal?

I wasn't going to buy a computer for a few months. But this price looks interesting.

Appreciate any comments,
Uno

Thanks! Seems now that Newegg has "gone big", they're putting less effort into selling stuff.

I don't think you can really complain about Newegg's pictures. They have probably the most detailed pictures, descriptions, and reviews on a website that I can remember. They are my go to site if I want to research just about anything online.

So $185 for Case, PSU, Motherboard and CPU
$99 for 128gb Samsung
$35 for 8gb of crucial 1333 desktop memory
+whatever OS you want (thus about 99 for windows)
=320 total for everything not counting OS, keyboard, mouse

Only downside of this bare bones is no ivy bridge support. So make sure you know that before buying

Just so y'all know what else is out there, for $325.00 you can get a select Inspiron 620 from Dell Outlet with an i3 2100.

http://content.dell.com/us/en/dfh/d...px?dgc=IR,IR&cid=250066,&lid=4352121,9FAEEE92

The main difference here is the form factor. Actually I think this shows you how good this deal is because Dell usually comes out ahead with these system comparisons on the low end (primarily because of how much cheaper Windows is under Dell).

Edit: Dell does come out significantly ahead here again as the $320 did not include Windows. But yeah..I guess it comes down to what you're using this for. If you're building a HTPC or have limited space, the Shuttle form factor is much better.

HTPC is the key here.....

The only thing I am looking for is someone using the old form factors for laptops to make a flat HTPC.

As small as this is, it is still rather blocky and irregular shaped compared to amplifier components. They have made frigging flat DVD players, is it so much harder to take a dated laptop and put it in a wider case with an LED status bar?

Thanks for the link to the Dell deals. I have a neighbor who needs a new system, and that 620 should fit the bill.

I missed this Shuttle deal the last time.

Any feedback from those that have already gotten one of these Shuttles would be welcome.

Yea, anyone have one of these? Any photos you can upload for us to check out? Can you list your specs and performance?

They have the 660s which is closer to the size of the Shuttle for as low as $319.00 with a G630. That's a great price as well!

They have a 660 on that closeout page for $357 with an Ivy Bridge Core i5, 6GB memory, and 1 TB drive, and Windows 7! I don't think the case is a lot bigger than the shuttle, either.

Edit: Well, I tried to buy the $357 660, but it appears to be sold out...

Well - I first tried to get one of the Dell systems, but the prices weren't very good in the end, so I went with the original deal given by the OP - the shuttle XH61 and the free CPU. This was for my wife, and it's up and running, along with an $89 Samsung 128GB SSD. I have to say I'm very impressed with the setup. The system is very fast, and very quiet. I installed Oblivion on it to test out the on-board video, and it had no trouble playing it at 1280 x 800, and the fan never got loud. The graphics are too weak to play anything newer, but this machine doesn't need to play anything more complex than Minecraft (and that runs smooth). So voerall I'm happy with the speed and quietness of this setup, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a small system.

Rdit - I should mention that I consider the lack of built-in wireless to be a con for this system. I bought a cheapo microl USB wireless songle, but this is something that should be built into ITX systems...
