oK, I am back to the FATAL ERROR problem, after swapping everything around, I got the same error using BOTH my mainboards, I cleaned up my HD completely many times, and it tests out perfect, no errors, I swapped all my cables, I tried it with just my DVD, and with just my CDRW, cleaning both drives as well. I had previously tried it with a different Hard drive as well.

I have 2 sticks of Ram (2100 DDR, Crucial and Nanya), I have tried each one individually, as well as in every slot and together in different slot combinations.

I have downloaded latest drivers, SP1, disabled virtual memory, and write cacheing to the HD, I have tried various combinations of those things as well... I STILL GET THIS DAMNED ERROR

C0000021a {Fatal System Error} during the Win Logon Process.

plus occasionally I get an IRQL and Page Fault as well.

I was getting these errors when i first got my system and at that time I upgraded my video card, and stil have problems after...

Here is what I think I have left to do:

Try some more memory options.
Try another Video Card.
and finally, Try another CPU.

Is there anything else you guys can think of?

My Specs

ECS k7s5a/Asus a7n8x (Used both boards, still get same problem)
Athlon 1700XP
20g Western Dig HD
Toshiba DVD
Sony CD-RW
Geforce 3ti200
512mb 2100DDR (256 Nanya/256 Crucial)
Sparkle 300w PSU (Had also used an Antec Tru-Power 330W may it rest in peace)

I had this problem where I got similar errors to what you are experiencing. Like you, I tested both sticks individually, and they worked fine. It was when I put the two sticks in that I had the problems. So, perhaps your two sticks of RAM are not be playing well together. I would try new RAM, making sure that both sticks are from the same manufacturer and both have the same specs.

Thanks for the replies:

first Memory - I get the errors with individual sticks as well as together, so I know its not only when i put them together.

As for the second one, I had SP1 installed on my system and these errors were happening, so then I decided to go and try to to upgrade my mainboard, and still have the problem, I thought it was part of k7s5a's flakey reputation.

I even uninstalled Internet Explorer last night and STILL had the issues... so that doesnt really help my situation.

I am so frustrated, because this isnt something that I can find answers to, out on Google, Microsoft, Asus, Nvidia and any other place I can think of checking out, nothing that fits my problem.... AAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!

Any more ideas, greatly appreciated...

I see where you say that you cleaned up the hard drive many times, but did you completely erase (format) the drive and reinstall Windows from scratch? Also, I have had the same problem in the past when I had a dirty CD-ROM drive while installing Windows. After cleaning the drive, Windows installed w/o errors, and my problems disappeared.

That Sparkle 300w PSU may be your problem as well, as K7S5A boards are super picky. I'm not certain about how picky the Asus a7n8x boards are, but 300w is low for an Athlon system either way. Try a 400w quality PSU possibly.
