I haven't really explored this option before. What I was thinking is, I'm a month or so away from launching a site I've been working on for the past few years. I thought to myself that it could be a nice feature to add the ability to perform background checks on users.
Is anyone familiar with this kind of software? Would I be better served by looking for a site that might perhaps offer a subscription for performing the background checks for my site? Or is there software out there right now that would be capable of (securely) handling the processing of the Social Security Number for certain information to be available to other users about the person in question.
I'm not sure yet whether or not I plan on having the boxes running the site use SOL or some flavor of Windows. I think it's going to be all php-based. Without any asp, I don't see much use for running a Windows box. But if there's no software available for this feature to run on the site under Linux, and there's something for Windows. I'll have to give that some consideration.
