Backup dvd to avi?

I am trying to backup a dvd to avi format, so i can store it on a cd. I know that i will lose quality, but thats fine.

Anyway, i have tried super dvd ripper, but i cant back it up. it keeps giving me error messages when i click start. I followed the instructions to the letter, but nothing worked. The error message is "ICSeqCompressFrame failed".

Does any of you know of any good program to turn dvds to avi's, and give me instructions on how to do so?

DVD Digest should have all the answers you are looking for and the tools you'll need to accomplish the task.

I like FairUse (FU) for ripping directly from the DVD. Most others you have to rip to hard drive and then encode separately.

what kind of error, are you tring to rip it directly from the DVD? because that won't work...

Is there a lossless format that you can rip a DVD to on a PC?

Go to www.doom9.net they have guides that will show you how to do everything and all the necessary programs are available on the site as well.
