Backup in XP?

I'm really lazy, so I got this new harddrive for backing up my work...
I thought I could use Briefcase, but I can't find it???
It also seems a little awkward with the guides in XP helpfile.
I would like to be able to select strategic folders I want to backup regularly to this new harddrive, only copying files that has actually changed.
It shouldn't be very hard :-( but no cigar.
Where's the Briefcase? and should I use it at all?

Just use the Backup utility that comes with XP.

Thanks but no thanks,
My experience with microsofts backup utility is far from good.
They change format with new versions of windows, and I risk not being able to access
my backup if I use another version of windows.
Its not a synchronizer, which I prefer.

PS! In a perfect world, the synchronizer should be able to remove (on confirmation) deleted files from my backup.
A file can be deleted on purpose, or by mistake...

I don't believe that is supported anylonger. You can use a third party tool like 'Second Copy'

I would setup Offline folder so when you logoff windows it will always save the most current data onto the new drive

If you don't want to use Offline Folders you can try PowerSync. There are free alternatives as well, but IMO PowerSync is one of the best file sync utilities out there. You'll also find it's much more powerful than briefcase ever was.

I will check out powersync, but I was hoping for a free solution.
I tried a synchronizer called vice versa, but it just exactly failed to do what I want.
