Hey guys,

Up till now, ive been backing up my hard drive by manually deleting the backup hard drive and then copy and pasting the files I want to be backed up onto the back up hardrive. Im sure theres a much better way to do this without having to delete and transfer all the files again just to make sure all the files are in sync.

So what im asking is, do you know a good back up software solution for backing up my hard drive onto a back up hard drive easily? such as syncing up the back up hard drive with the orginal so i dont have to transfer everything all over again just to make sure its all in sync. Being able to just select specific folders to sync to the back up hard drive and syncing it would be nice.

I saw Backitup in Nero, so I might try that but im sure theres probably a much better program out there for this.

if its just files and folders, syncback from 2brightsparks works good.

if you're doing a complete drive image, norton ghost or acronis true image.

Acronis True Image 10 or Norton Ghost 10 (Acronis is bit better and cheaper though)

Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried microsoft synctoy but I dont think its what I need. I want to just select folders on my computer and back it up onto a hard drive and it looks like i have to pair up each individual folder to the other hard drive and that can get tiresome. Still a nice app, just not for back up purposes such as mine.

im looking at acronis and I just wanted to make sure, its not just for copying a whole image right? I can just select folders on my computer to back up onto a hard drive?

oh and i forgot you mentione syncback. I checked it out and it sounds like what I need. I might download this to try it out. Thanks for the tip. It looks like exactly what I need.

Thanks for your help

Because with one hard drive, it doesnt have enough room for a whole drive image so i just need to back up certain folders and make sure they are up to date on the back up hard drive without having to retransfer everything.

Thanks for your help

True image 10 can do a image of a partition or just selected files and folders. Plus it can do incremental backups of a image of a partition and just adds the extra stuff.

Say you make a FULL image of C drive and then want to backup the new files a week later you can just choose incremental and it will just add the new stuff and not reimage the whole partition.
