Gawd...no shit. If Chinese are such good drivers in China, why are they so terrible here?
For those of you that say asians are bad drivers, I dare any of you Americans to drive in China and see how hard it is to drive there.
I live in Flushing, Queens. What's the excuse of all the bad Asian drivers here? (and no it's not just the old drivers)
That was pretty awesome. Loved the delayed gratification on the hole drop. It was sitting there so enticingly just waiting for the guy...then boom, it finally happens.

A lot of the bad Asian drivers in the US didn't actually drive in Asia. The bad ones are usually people that get their license @ 30's and 40's when they move to the US.
Same excuse for all the bad white drivers that I saw in Oregon?
I really hope people are just trolling with stereotypes and don't REALLY think bad driving is racially exclusive.

not so much a racial issue as it is geographic/cultural/social issue. They aren't bad drivers because they are Chinese or Indian, for example--but because they come from China and India.
Dude...stereotypes exist for a reason...
Youtubes automated anti-copyright violation measures are amazing.
I would say that's still an over generalization. Inexperienced drivers not accustomed to the driving habits of where they live tend to be bad drivers. You can have a person move here from China and with enough intelligence and practice they can be fine drivers. You can also take a white driver who grew up in Portland and dump them in San Diego and see how terrible they do.
That's why I said the reason for seeing bad Asian drivers in Flushing is the same as bad white drivers in Oregon. They're inexperienced and too dumb to learn.
.
point is that when it comes to the road and driving, there are no fucking rules in China and India. the horn is the only rule. Have you seen the [complete lack of] queuing in Chinese culture, let alone on the roads? There isn't a general understanding of how to proceed through an intersection. roads and routes aren't marked--it's complete chaos.
It isn't an issue of learning local rules, it's the complete absence of rule and order suddenly learning to adapt. On top of that, these aren't driving cultures. Automobiles are still a rather recent phenomenon for much of China, so as mentioned earlier, the people that immigrate or come here to study never had to drive and are only learning much later in life.
You make it sound as if you are trying to compare someone learning to drive in San Diego after having grown up in Florida and driving to someone moving from CHina, without any common rules or understanding of the road suddenly having to learn how to do it---um, you aren't trying to compare those, are you?
again--this isn't racial. It's simply a matter of how things are. you get no exposure to how the system works, what should one expect of your skills?
this article is a few years old, but it paints a rather vivid picture of the complete lack of driving culture in China

certainly, as we understand and have developed the American driving culture...with like, rules and stuff.

I think we are basically on the same page but I'm just asking you to be mindful that when you exclusively point out India and China that you may incorrectly appear to be narrow and that the concepts you bring up are broadly applicable. Driving with reckless abandon? You mean like Boston drivers?
