2 from ST: First Contact
- attack on the Borg cube. Fine effects sequence. It is rumored too that the Millenium Falcon is seen in one scene. I think I've found it too. Pic Very small though, and fuzzy, but the right shape.
- When the Phoenix goes to warp. It just makes me think of what it might be like when/if humanity ever goes superluminal. (And it gives me an excuse to use the word "superluminal.")

SW: AOTC, when Yoda arrives with the gunships

SW: ROTJ, Death Star v1.1 surface skiming attack-precursor

Sorry, guess I don't watch a lot of "bad-ass" movies.

My Bad ass moment in the Matrix is when my brain caught up to what the movie was actually about. From then on the whole movie was bad ass.
If I may ask, what might your "actually about" be? Just curious.

Wow, some nice responses here. Just one to add that's a personal favorite:

From Dirty Harry:

"I know what you're thinking. 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky?....Well, do ya punk? "

This is said twice in the movie. The first time is after he fights off the guys who robbed the bank (while chewing on a hot dog and with buckshot in the leg, no less), the second is at the end, when he only did fire five shots (wont ruin it for those that haven't seen it). Both scenes are bad ass though .

Pulp Fiction - the part where Samuel Jackson is about to kill the guy in the apartment, and he recites a verse from the Bible for him.

King of New York - When Laurence Fishburne asks for a soda, and then shoots the dealers

Gladiator - When Russell Crowe faces the Emporer in the arena

Equilibrium - When Christian Bale's reading on the polygraph machine (is that what it was) goes flatline and all the troops realize he's gone into Cleric mode, and any of the action scenes except for when he fights "Father"

Scarface - Any scene where Al Pacino shoots someone

Last Man Standing - When Bruce Willis kills everyone

Hannibal - When Ray Liotta eats his own brain, when Hopkins feeds brain to the kid on the plain

Enter the Dragon - When the guy tries to cheap-attack Bruce Lee, and Lee kills him with a monster stomp to his neck

Van Damme - final scene in any of his movies when they show him in slow motion after he kills enemy, eyes bugging out, going "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Agree with Gladiator, Maximus's speech. Also agree with Boondock Saints, the courtroom speech.

Apollo 13 was a great movie. Particularly, in the launch and blackout/recovery scenes, the music is...awesome.

and before killing Gene Hackman, he says" it's got nothing to do with deserves"

That reminded me of the scene when Eastwood leaves the bar. There are like 10-15 bad guys hiding around waiting to shoot him and, because of his reputation as a maniacal killer, he says "All right now, I'm comin' out. Any man I see out there, I'm gonna shoot him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife and all his friends... and burn his damn house down." Then he walks out unchallenged.

I liked the moment when Ahnuld comes around the corner and Sarah sees him for the first time in the movie. Her reaction is great.

Saw
The 'dead' body gets up off the floor and peels a prosthetic scar from his head. He then tells Adam that the key to his chain is in the bathtub (but a flashback shows us it went down the drain when the tub emptied). Adam, angry at Jigsaw for his ordeal, grabs the gun and goes to shoot him but Jigsaw uses a remote to shock Adam again, making him drop the gun. Jigsaw walks away, turns the light off and shuts the door telling Adam 'GAME OVER', leaving Adam screaming and crying in darkness.

The Rock - When the airstrike is called and Cage's girl is crying at the command post and you see all the parts of the aircrafts preparing for the drop and all of a sudden you see the FBI guys watching and how quick everything happens when he says "Green smoke, I HAVE GREEN SMOKE!"...

That gives me chills every time.

I am not saying it is about anything other than what it is about. I just had a slow understanding of what was going on when I first saw it. But once I figured it out. I was like that's bad ass.

9 pages... FINALLY someone mentions Leon. Pretty much the whole damn movie is badass, whether its Oldman or Jean Reno.

Also ditto on Heat, Neo: "No", Snatch... no ditto on Gladiator. I thought that speech was a Braveheart wannabe. Juaquin's reaction is awesome though.

I still don't think anything recently has given me the same chills as the Charge of the Rohirrim @ The Battle of The Pelennor Fields.

Theoden: Èomer. Take your éored down the left flag. Gamling, follow the King's banner down the center. Grimbold, take your company right, after you pass the wall. Forth. Down fear of darkness. Arise. Arise, Riders of Théoden. Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered. A sore day... a red day... ere the sun rises.
Eowyn: What ever happens, stay with me. I'll look after you.
[The King rides past his men, hitting their spears with his sword as he goes.]
Theoden: Ride now... Ride now... Ride. Ride for ruin and the world's ending.
[He stops and prepares to face Sauron's army.]
Theoden: Death.
Rohirrim: Death.
Theoden: Death.
Rohirrim: Death.
Theoden: DEATH.
Èowyn and Merry: Death.
Theoden: FORTH, EORLINGAS!

The speech is badass, but the visual of the Rohirrim, charging, hopelessly outnumbered and exhausted from riding night and day to get there in time, into the black sea of Sauron's hordes was one of the most stirring moments in modern cinema. Maybe it's just because they were convinced to a man that they were going to die, and Theoden feared that the descendants of Eorl would meet their end. Epic. Dylan Thomas stuff.

The creepiest villain scene I can recall is in Blue Velvet where Dennis Hopper is sucking on oxygen and says "Baby wanna f-, baby wanna f-!" Bone chilling creepy....

Kenneth Branagh in Henry V, the "St. Crispin's Day speech". Seems to be a model for most leader-propping-up-down-but-not-out-soldiers speeches (president in ID4): "And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by from this day until the ending of the world but we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers, For he today who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother, Be he ne'er so vile, this day shall gentle his condition, and gentlemen in England now abed shall think themselves acursed they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whilst any speaks, that fought with us upon St. Crispin's day!"

Hard Candy hands down wins for badass scene. If you scene it you know what it is. I had to cringe a pillow infront of my face for the first time ever and I though I could watch anything! Anyone else see this movie?

For me... Star Wars... several scenes...

- Yoda whips out his saber for the first time against Dooku
- Palpatine goes "So.. it's treason then" *whips out saber*
- Luke I am your father

Matrix:
- Helicopter scene
- Lobby

Arnold... what's that movie Commando? Someone tells him to be reasonable and he just blows the guy away with a shotgun or something and says some stupid punchline

Troy - When Hector kills the guy who was about to kill his pussy bro (stupid Orlando)

Black Hawk Down - When the guy gets AKed in the neck and someone takes over the 50 cal MG. Then there's the two Delta guys.
