in star fox when you first start flying out of your base on Corneria and the pump-up music starts

Sega's Virtua On was badass (both on Saturn and Arcade) where you just get unlimited over-the-top barrages of missiles, napalm, etc... and the whole point of the game is to run around and fire as much shiz into the opponent.

lastly, Wolfenstein 3D will always be the most badass fps ever made.

after the end of bg2.. i sat back and said "WOW"... i love that game, i don't think there will EVER be an rpg to beat it. EVER.

Im just going through FF7 now, I hear from a lot of people its the best game ever, we will see.

I would say a lot of scenes from the Metal Gear Solid series, anything with Big Boss or Snake. No, Raiden doesnt count.

Adrenaline pumping moments in Half Life 2.

I just started playing Condemned, but it seems pretty bad ass.

Wow, All this time and not one word about HALO?!?!?! I also enjoy ANY cinematics by BLIZZARD, SQUARE-ENIX....I thought the Bar scene in PREY at the beginning was well done....The jukebox going off while the abduction was happening... But I'd have to say that I was BLOWN AWAY by MGS....When I finished that game I wasn't excited....I was bummed that it was over and I wanted it to keep going!

Oh for God's sake, how did I know that there would be a ton of posts about sephiroth and cloud or just FF7 in general? Alright guys, it's one of the greatest RPGs ever, now stop with the damn reposts!

Resident Evil 4 is badass all around, especially fighting the sea boss. Also, the ending of Dawn of War and the level where you have to eliminate your former comrades. Those parts were awesome, although the expansion Winter Assault is twice as fun.

And let's not forget the last boss and the ending for MGS3. Whew

God I love MGS.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the fight with The End...
Some people have been so unlucky in that battle that it's taken them days to find him.
Also, the ending battle is completely insane. Especially when you have to drag Eva along... geez.
But the final battle with The Boss and the final cutscene are AWESOME.

It's a bit dated now, but rushing Omaha Beach in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault gets my vote. (I may be bias though, I'd give the same "scene" my badass movie vote for Saving Private Ryan)

FF6 is a great game. Close to FF7, but I didn't see how FF3 was as emotional. There wasn't as much dialogue and the character development wasn't as deep.

If anybody's played Xenogears, you'd know that it blows FF7 out of the water.

I agree with the poster that put Goldeneye for N64. The most badass part was after you killed someone, shooting at their head with the p90 and telling them to look at their screen.

Also suprised nobody put Shadow of the Colossus. Every battle in that game was epic.

Most badass of all time though is Kratos. Runner up is Riddick.

Homeworld 1 - not really badass as much as deeply emotional - when you return to your planet after your hyperspace test to find the entire world on fire. "It's ... gone."

With the choral version of Barber's Adagio setting the mood, it was just one of the most well done scenes in video game history.
