Doesn't a lot of the south go "squirrel hunting" already?

It's one thing to kill for food, it's another thing to torture the animals causing endless pain and suffering. I don't care if it makes the meat better, be lucky you actually HAVE food. Torturing animals just for extra luxery is low, very low, and extremely selfish. I would personally love to see a person who tortures animals, be put to death in a horrible way to feel what the animals goes through. Eye for eye punishment imo.

Do you have any idea what happens on farms in the US meat industry? Get off your high horse, all of this is relative. Some guy in Indian probably thinks you're a barbaric savage for eating cows. Muslims think Americans are disgusting for keeping dogs as pets.

Oh I realize that, I don't agree with the crap that goes on here either, but what goes on in china is worse. At least here it's somewhat regulated. Whether or not the factories are actually following those regulations is another story though...

I only eat meat because it's already dead anyway, but I personally could easily do without it and be happy to see less suffering.

The animals are treated about as ethically as can be prior to slaughter. Those guilty of abusing the animals face penalties.

Still not as good as a free, meaty cat and/or dog!

much easier to prepare ramen than cat/dog

If you're homeless, it's much easier to eat a fresh cat or dog than it is to boil up water, unless you're a bum who carries a propane burner with you

I'm considering eating stray cats just to get them the hell out of my yard. Maybe if I set a couple of traps quickly they can be on my Super Bowl menu.

Sod off and stop being such an idiot.

Have you ever been around pigs? Some of them are smarter than many dogs. So are all of the apes that have been used in the horrible and painful medical trials that have given us modern medicine. And goats are often brighter than you'd think.

In fact, almost all food animals are capable of greater reasoning and empathic intelligence than the average cat, which has the spatial cognition abilities of the average fighter pilot and not much else. The notable exceptions are sheep, which are only marginally brighter than asparagus, and domesticated turkeys, which are outclassed by some forms of sedimentary rock.

"It's already dead anyway?"

The only reason slaughterhouses exist is because
people buy the meat.[/i]

To be honest, I don't really care if Chinese slaughterhouses are inhumane if the one-odd billion people in China get to eat properly. And I might add that while Temple Grandon's excellent work has made slaughterhouses practically pleasant for cows, the diet of corn, antibiotics and steroids they're fed generally leaves them sick and bloated. Pigs have it even worse.

Are you a vegan?

If no, STFU.

Have you used any medical products of any type in the last year?

If yes, STFU.

Yeah it is, they also skin cats/dogs alive and such because apparently it's easier to skin when it's struggling. Just makes me cringe thinking about what people are actually heartless enough to do.

Canadians still club seals. Except that Canadians mostly look and act like us, so they're okay.

I'm totally against the seal clubbing. That's almost as bad as what china does to dogs, cats, monkeys etc. In fact, most Canadians are against it. The ones who are not against it are the ones that live in those areas because they're too lazy to go out and get a real job.

People who think it is ok to torture animals really need to go through therapy, or have someone torture them just a bit to knock some sense into them. People who actually do torture animals need to go through the same amount of pain, then killed. There is simply no reason to make a creature go through any kind of suffering. None.

Get it put down at the vet, that's most likely the most humane way. If on a low budget a really hard hit on the head with a shovel or something, but I personally couldn't do it. But if you really HAVE to kill it, at least make it quick and painless.

clubbing a seal is fine. knocking something unconscious before you kill it is hardly insane cruelty

dogs are different, they sort of coevolved with humans to be guards/hunter companions/herders etc. not exactly cows..and so they are a bit socially aware compared ...no good reason to eat them either.

Well when they club the seals often they're not really killed right away before they are skinned. Often they're also bashed or shot and just left there traumatized and fidgeting for hours before they die. If they actually killed them quick and got them for meat it would be one thing, but half of them are not even used for anything, they're just killed for fun of it.

If these people really enjoy mass slaughtering they should just get some video games or something.

Also anyone who can justify harming or killing animals like these really need to get checked.

So just because an animal is cute, it warrants more moral consideration? Get off your high horse and stop bringing pictures of kittens into the mix for emotional effect. An animal is an animal, cute or not. You justify harming thousands of other species of animals, but oh no NOT THE KITTENS!

Animals torture one another for nourishment all the time. Why shouldn't we do the same?

Again, when a human is killing another species for some function of food, I don't really see what the problem is.
