Hi all, i have posted my initial problem in antohter thread regarding to data corruption happening while my hard disks are in RAID 0. The topic can be found here
Before I go into anything, my system Spec are as follows
Opty 165 @ 2.4 (300*8) idle 32 load 48 (24 hour prime stable)
2x1GB Kingston Value (1T 3/3/3/8)
Asus A8N32-SLI
Bios up to date (1009)
120GB Maxtor Diamond 10 into SATA port 1
120GB Maxtor Diamond 9 into SATA port 2
Raid controller disabled
After reading some forum topics regarding to single disk VS RAID 0, I decided that I would break my hard disks into 2 seperate drives. My Maxtor Diamon 10 for my system drive and my Diamon 9 for backup/storage. In my bios, i disabled the RAID controller, and under the windows installer, i partitioned and formatted both of them just fine. Here comes the problem.
The order of my installation is
Direct X 9 > Chipset Driver (which requires Dx 9) > Graphic Card Driver > Network controller > Sound card > Windows Update > SP2
Trouble 1: After installing the chipset driver (not the IDE SW one, it simply locks up my system) I am haunted by a second floppy drive which never existed. Uninstalled from device manager, i'll pop right back after the next reboot and the only way is to disable it.
Trouble 2: Almost guranteed, regardless of what i do, after installing SP2, my computer will refuse to boot, and when it gets to the windows loading screen, a blue screen pops up and instantly reboots my system, and from that point on, regardless of what i do, i can no longer get into my system. The I wiped the drive, deleted and rebuilt the partition, and this time I installed SP2 before my sound card driver, and this time, after my sound card driver finishes to install, same problem strikes. The drivers and SP2 works in harmony when my drives are still in RAID 0 and my files plagued by corruption, so it's not to do with compatability. Also, I performed a full format (not quick) when I re-install and made sure to run a disk check every time, even the free spaces are checked. I have re-installed windows at least 7 time in the past 24 hours and I am annoyed beyond words.....
Someone please help me.....it's currently 2:30AM here in Australia, and I am a little worn out and is unsure whether I should re-install my windows for the 8th time.
I would really appreciate any advice, or i'll probably have to start trying the install on my Diamond 9 and somehow find a way to prove the warranty people that my hard disk is faulty....
