From the reviews I've read of Windows laptops that are 14" or smaller and with a greater than 1080p screen, the text and everything else gets too small to read. I would also be running Ubuntu (ElementaryOS) on any laptop I get.
So it seems that Windows at least hasn't scaled at all to new high resolution screens yet? Would it be a bad idea to get a machine *now* with a higher than 1080p screen if the intention is to run Windows and Linux?
Also, gaming considerations. I really like fluid motion (60fps+) at native resolution. I don't like the blurriness of non-native resolution when gaming. Would this also be a big factor in NOT getting a high definition screen, if the aim is to get smooth native resolution gameplay?
