I guess they don't want people potentially posing as police officers. Sounds drastic, but then again, some people are stupid enough to believe that just wearing something with the words &quot;LAPD&quot; makes you a cop.

I live in Pinellas County and a friend of mine works at that same jail, he's going to get me a t-shirt with the jail seal on it, I wonder how long it will take to get busted.

Anyway... I think she should have been reprimanded... hell give her a 25$ fine... but a year in Jail is waaaaaaaay over the top. Unless she actually pretended to be the sheriff this is ludicrous.

Interesting.

As a former police officer, I remember seeing a crew of youngsters walking through a mall one day while we were (being forced to) having some sort of &quot;We're the Police and we're your friends&quot; crap. 2 of them had on black shirts that had the word &quot;POLICE&quot; boldy written across the front. Another officer sort of meandered by the young felons in question and was amused to discover that the &quot;POLICE&quot; in question was a rock band.

I will note that the world did not end as a result of the shirts being worn.

My dad wears a NY State Police hat all the time...

He has nothing to do with law enforcement... I have seen cops look at him with the hat on and giggle... He has never gotten in trouble for it...

Freakin ludricrous punishment, unless she was posing as a sheriff. Almost as bad as this honor student in my area (VA) that got expelled for having a steak knife in her car.

Certainly that punishment is out of hand and she'll likely get off with an appeal. A year for that? Dumb.

However it should be illegal, for obvious reasons, to wear a shirt described like that one.
