Ok last update (firmware update). No real difference results look to be within the % error.

Thanks everyone

Still far faster than a mechanical drive, however.
Yeah but it's extremely strange that the sequential write is so low, although the connection is capable of more (so no handshake problem or something)

Is your power setting set to 'High Performance'? On my laptop it affected sequential speeds. I also noticed that Intel's disk controller drivers are more agressive with power savings and affects perfomance more than the 'basic' Microsoft ACHI ones when I have the power setting at balanced. Have you also tried benching in safe mode? Since you own a G2, as you've been doing, you will have to use the Intel Toolbox to initiate the garbage collection just prior to running the bench. Best of luck.

Specifically, disabling C1E power saving in BIOS would allow much higher random IOps (the 4K scores).

razel,
Set to High Performance when A/C connected so that should not be the problem

sub.mesa,
This laptop BIOS has no control over CPU CStates

yeah why is his sequentals so low...

sub.mesa,
This laptop BIOS has no control over CPU CStates

This the thinkpad?
Isnt that on a santa rosa chipset... or a P965 mobile platform?

Maybe its your controller... is his scores normal for a ICH9?

The SSD is installed in "HP 8450w, i5 ~2.6GHz, 4GB of RAM" HP website says chipset is Mobile Intel QM57.

I updated first post with this info.

As a comparison, I'm using the ADATA 80GB x-25M G2 (same thing as Intel) and with the ATTO disk test I can get 51MB write and 54MB read at 4k. At 512k, I get 82MB/137MB. The 137MB seems to be the limit of my laptop, as it never goes higher for larger reads.

My laptop is an older Sony FE770G T5600 1.8Ghz with SATA1 interface. I'm not running AHCI, as far as I know, because it wasn't an option in the BIOS.
