Bad Pool Caller BSOD

Just recently built a new PC.

Specs are i5 4670k
8GB 1833 RAM
XFX 7870 Double D
120GB Plextor SSD
1TB Seagate HDD
Corsair CX 600

Windows 8 64 bit recently upgraded to 8.1 pro 64 bit.

Tonight, I got Bad_Pool_Caller BSOD twice or three times in one sitting...

Please help. I hate windows 8 as it is and the fact that I can't play BF4 without crashing at least twice per hour is extremely frustrating.

I just updated to the latest ones today, 13.11 beta I believe.

Are you sure you got windows to use the new drivers? I found that sometimes it uses the standard vga adapter driver and says "its the best one"

You may have to go in and select it manually.

It used to be just random BF 4 crashes without any errors. I would get a bs error sometimes when my BF4 crashes like it has stopped working unexpectedly or an unknown error has occurred. But yesterday I got BSOD twice while playing which is new and surprising.

I have not used one to log my temps. Figured it's pretty chilly in my area and it's a new rig with nice cooling on both the CPU (CM Hyper 212+) and GPU (XFX Double D) which do not run hot even during the summer. My idle temps for CPU are around 30*C and GPU.

I downloaded HWMonitor so I will get back to you probably tonight once I log my temps during a typical BF4 session.

That's a very good point. When I sent my dxdiag to EA, they said my system defaults to the integrated graphics card for some reason. I checked the BIOS and there are no options there to disable it. I hate windows 8 and I have no idea how to manually select it.

Hey Nwo, I am not sure if it is just related to BF4 crap. EA and Dice just did a big "update" to the game a couple of days ago and it has seemed that it has caused more issues with the game than it fixed.
Many people on several forums are complaining about the game and how it is causing serious issues with the windows environment.

However I would take a look and make sure it is not the video driver. Maybe get rid of the beta driver and install the latest non-beta driver and give that a try. I am running a 7870 and installed the 13.9 driver. Of course I am running windows 7 not 8

Yeah, it was not great at the beginning but it was playable most of the time with rare crashes. After the update, I spent 3 hours digging up a solution for punk buster because I would get instantly kicked after joining. After I got that fixed, I get crashes all the time and they are usually more frequent on more populated servers (64 slot) than they are on smaller servers (32 slot) although it does happen on both.

I was initially using 13.9 and I updated to 13.11 a few days ago, it seems a bit more stable since then but I have only played one night with the beta drivers.

I just tried to save a temp log using CPUID HW monitor, and as soon as I save the txt file my PC locks up.... Happened 4 times in a row.

What other programs can I try?

Just did an hour long BF 4 match... GPU max temp was 88 and CPU was 65.

I also crashed when the next match was supposed to start loading... -_-

At least I didn't let an hour worth of shooting/points go to waste though. I received those before I crashed.

I am wondering if it isn't something wrong with CPUID seeing how you had 4 lockups in a row using CPUID. Uninstall it, download and install CoreTemp, and give it another go.

Lockups only occur after I try to save the log. Otherwise, I can run it all I want just fine, as long as I do not log the temps.
