I am trying to figure out why my Mother in Law's computer freezes and will only reboot off a "hard" shut down afterwards. Also, when i went to her home to figure it out, it BSOD's on me booting over and over, and wouldnt even go into safe mode. Suspecting RAM, i have it at my house and tried a stick of my corsair XMS, never had an issue, but still not totally sure about it. Currently its running MEMtest with her RAM in. Here is the error codes i remember from the event viewer.
100000d1
0000009c
error code 1003
category 102
thats about all i can remember. She says generally it locks up doing basically nothing (all she does is AOL and Word. And then after it locks, it tends to lock up the second it gets the the welcome screen.
XP w sp2
Has updated virus protection, spyware protection, etc.
ANyhow, any other ideas are appreciatted. I would hate to just say, well, bad RAM. and then it turns out being something else.
