My 4 years old Corsair VX450W went kaput so I submitter it at 16th December at Kaizen Kolkata,India service center.
(NOTE: Kaizen Kolkata don't take any Corsair item without original bill)
I called 3 timed in past 20 days but RMA process still under service.
On 7th January 2015 I called Kaizen,Kolkata and got reply that replacement has come.
Now the worst part.
When I reach the service center I was shocked to that the replacement was VS450.
I did not accept that.
Corsair become so cheap that they replaced my VX450 with lower grade VS450 after 20 days.

Guys please help me!
What should I do now ?
I did not accept the VS450.
I also called toll free corsair India no 18004255464 but they failed to help me.
Mailed at indiaservice@corsair.com but still no reply.
My 2014 ended with bad and 2015 also start with bad...

Posting on a public forum is a good start, I'd say.

:'( My first thought was to PM Yellowbeard.

Isn't your bad ps the lowest model of corsair ps? If it is out of production then they replaced it with the current equivalent which is what the warranty is supposed to do. When you buy a higher model you get the same level of service. Several months ago my hx1000 failed and they sent me a hx1050 which is the current equivalent model. Corsair has always had very good rma service here in the states and I don't see where they did you wrong. If you purchase a higher end model you will receive a higher end model if it should need to be replaced.

With that said I am inclined to use them from now on for all of my power supplies. I've used Enermax for many years and I have one in this system now. I also have an Enermax in my spare pc but their quality is slipping especially with the modular plugs and unsleeved cables.

No the VS series aren't good at all, even cruddier than their CX series. Since the VX is no longer made, I believe the current equivalent would be the RM series.

I've had a lot of trouble RMA'ing memory to Corsair. Super long turnaround and overly complicated process...

As far as PSU's, the only one I've ever RMA'ed was about a year ago (Feb 2014 literally days before they were purchased by FirePower from OCZ Group) from PC Power & Cooling, a 750 Quad v1.0

I'd had it since 2009, and had mailed it in early 2010 to have the cables and connectors reconfigured to length and ends ($20 + shipping both ways) which was just an amazing service they offered to their customers. However, I had to RMA it last year (almost 5 years old with a 5 year warranty) when it just stopped powering on and buzzed. I used a PSU tester and it put out NO voltage anywhere. I emailed their support with the serial number and explanation of the problem (there was no online form or anything) and they emailed me back an RMA # and a PDF shipping label (not prepaid.)

I started freaking out things were going to be bad when I heard about the FirePower buyout, and I knew things were on edge there because OCZ had just filed bankruptcy months prior.

But I got an email back a few days later that it was repaired and they were mailing it back!

However, when I got it back, all the custom cables were gone! They just shipped me back a new unit...it had v2.0 on the case and everything. It looked brand new, not like a refurb, but I guess they either didn't notice the custom cabling, didn't have the resources to transfer it or properly fix the PSU, or the custom cabling wasn't warranty-able. I didn't bother emailing them to even mention the cabling situation because the PSU was going to be re-purposed, anyway. I also didn't want to make a big deal about it because it was literally on the brink of out-of-warranty (5 years) and I was never even asked to provide proof of purchase!

Overall, very good support from them, but now defunct. I wonder if they even still have their offices in Carlsbad, CA.

---

I want to mention I'm pretty sure I killed it. I've been using it for Bitcoin mining to run two old Antminer S1, which were overclocked to 200GH/h which probably raised their power draw from 360w to 380w each. My power usage at the wall using a killawatt hovered around 800-watts and this is a 750-watt PSU. These units only use a 12v rail which the 750 QUAD is rated at 60A (720 watts) BUT the fan always blew warm, not hot, and the case temp was never above 50c (120F) or ~40F above room temp. It ran like this 24/7 for over 2 years, then one day was just buzzing. The ASIC's were OK and are currently running on a Seasonic X-series 850-Watt, which is NOT even as efficient as the PC P&C 750 QUAD: The Seasonic draws 809-watts at the wall! Both are 80 Plus Gold and the Seasonic is a newer design and higher power handling (70A on the +12)

Odds are the US service reps here won't have much if any contact with the India service reps over there. I would chalk this more up to a regional issue and not a company wide issue. I've have had nothing but amazing service from Corsair over here in the states with RMAs, rebates, and general user support.

Why Local Authority of Corsair gonna do this ?
To hurt the image of Global Corsair ?
Or to make profit for them self by replacing lower tier products ?
So,ultimately we the customers who suffer and no one to blame and no one to save us ?

Another very satisfied US-Corsair customer here. I've warrantied Corsair RAM a couple times without issue and a psu once due to a broken ATX power plug. (it just split right down the center!)

my suggestion is to take the replacement and run. they will stonewall until you give up and go away. take a lesson and don't buy corsair in the future. however i rma'd some memory and had good service here in canada. maybe its just the local people who are giving you the gears.

Tbh the local (RMA) support for most major firms, including Intel, is absolutely pathetic. I was looking to buy Intel's Performance Tuning Protection Plan, just before I upgraded my system, but the local CC executives (<- :hmm initially had no idea what I was talking about. Suffice to say I didn't go through with the plan purchase & then settled for a lowly G3258. It's pretty much every consumer's story as the consumer protection laws are hardly enforced properly & you have to go to local courts (consumer fora) OR threaten legal action after which sometimes they'll, the company handling returns, budge :|

Got another mail with another excuse.

I don't know how they think these are equivalent units. 4 molex and SATA connectors vs 6 with 20% weaker 3.3v and 5v rails could mean its not capable of powering (or even connecting to) all your accessories and hard drives. Simple 12v equivalence isn't the absolute measure of equality.

Weird. I just had to RMA my HX620 that was 3 days of out of warranty. They accepted the RMA despite the warranty having just expired and sent me a HX650. I was extremely impressed.

Best of luck OP, I hope you get this resolved.

Sorry to hear of your problem Revolution. I had a issue with my Corsair case panel which I accidentally broke one of the clips. I contacted Corsair and they sent me a panel free of charge! So I'm quite perplexed with the customer service you have received in India!

i think OP is being unreasonable. Xabanak may be right but obsolete is obsolete.

personally, my experiences with corsair have been top-notch. OP got a replacement which is better than a refurbished from years ago.

So u think VX450 and VS450 are both similar quality product ?
And that's why I should take that VS450 ?
VS450 is so good that's Corsair giving 3 years warranty and its the cheapest from all 450Ws and VX450 lower tier PSU and they use to give 5 years warranty.
I know a incident where someone got RM650 as a replacement of TX650 cos TX obsolete.
In future Corsair may said product is obsolete so no one will get any replacement for RMA ?

what do you expect them to do? go buy you a used PSU, refurbish it and ship it to you?
they dont have a new VX to send you so they sent you the VS which is in the same power range.
