bad sound card?

Hi Everybody,

I recently installed a new mobo, cpu, and memory. Everything was fine for a week or so, and then I decided to install my TB Santa Cruz soundcard from the previous motherboard. When I first started the computer, and then installed the drivers for the soundcard from the CD I didn't have any problems...then when I restarted the computer, before the bios screen came up, I just had a black screen, and the computer made the following noise:


beeeeeeepppp..........beeep, beeep, beeep, beeep....

and then I shut it off because it kept on beeping. Is it possible that I damaged my soundcard somehow? It's weird though because sometimes, I have this problem and sometimes I don't so it's not consistent.

I'm pretty sure my memory and everything is properly seated.

What do you all think?

my guess is that there's something wrong w/ the sound card that's preventing the computer from booting. I can't think of anything that would make it boot fine half the time and fail the other half. My solution would be take the card out, test it to make sure it boots fine then buy a new sound card.

Hmm...it's working fine right now (with the sound card in). If it keeps causing trouble, I will take it back it out and see if doesn't cause the problem anymore...and if that's the case, get a new sound card. Thanks for the help.
