I've never heard of this problem, I think the HDD is designed to take a little abuse. Probably does a fast read to memory, then docks itself. Not sure, might check with apple.

I've been running with my iPod mini (new 6GB green) without any problems. Probably run 20 miles total so far though, so who knows what'll happen in the future. But I use the arm band for it, and that might reduce the "flapping" around a bit...

It may skip a little bit, being a hard disk based player, but shouldn't pose a problem. A lot of people run with iPods

I've trained for 3 marathons doing my runs with my iPod. It never quit on me...even when I was caught in a thunderstorm once. Oh, it never skip on me either.

I plan to run with mine, as i bought an armband that'll ship in 2073

but my mini has taken some abuse ( gf dropped it to concrete the first week i bought it ) and it's ok still.. knock on wood

I've run, biked, done all sorts of crap with my iPod... it just reads to memory and parks the heads until like 25 minutes later when it has to read from it once again....
