HOLY BICYCLES! What/why did this happen? What are initial reports saying?

According to other video... the load shifted towards the rear of the plane causing it to pitch up wildly and the engines to stall. No idea if that's accurate or not... will probably quite some time before it's all known for sure.

Or they were French pilots and when they received a stall warning they pulled the nose of the plane upwards.

Watching the video, this theory makes the most sense. The plane looked almost vertical at its highest point.

Engine stall, or air stall? You can have operational engines, but lose lift. That's called stall.

It's a cargo plane so 7 is expected.

Insane video. I'm shocked that the driver's reaction was so controlled. He didnt make a peep for quite some time.

that was pretty impressive, there is a point in the beginning where you can just tell things are not right and it's way too vertical, then it hits the peak and drops like a rock.

Air stall. Engines sounded like they were at full spool.

As a current student pilot I would agree with this. Load shift is probably correct. Load shifts backwards throwing the CG aft, nose points up exceeding the critical angle of attack, wings lose ability to provide sufficient lift, engines aren't powerful enough to keep propelling you forward by themselves (like a rocket or jet fighter), and plane begins to fall instead of fly.

Watching the video the pilots appear to have done the correct thing... when the plane stalled it was also entering into a right spin. They immediately applied full left rudder to correct the spin but unfortunately by that time they were too low and too slow to fully recover.

LOL. Shit I play x-plane enough to know you do not pull the nose up.
Now let's say that all the weight that your hollow aluminum tube is carrying suddenly relocates itself to the back of the plane.

Someone didn't secure the cargo properly?

:\

At 9 seconds you see the plane hit something, like a bird or something. Not sure if this has any affect. Liveleak is blocked here so I wasn't able to see the other video explaining the cause.

nvm, it could be just compression artifact on the video.

Scary stuff. I randomly have nightmares like this where a large plane is overhead and falling out of the sky...

that is what i thought when i seen it. for some reason they pulled the nose up and caused it to stall and they couldn't recover.

ugh.
