Bah, Problems with A7N8X-DX rev2.0 and 9500pro!

Whenever I install any catalyst drivers the system becomes unstable. Parts of icons on the desktop disappear and the system cannot run anything in 3d, I usually get a message "windows has recovered from a serious error" and I get thrown to 256 colours or a hardlock. It also causes the system to take a really longtime to boot.

I have tried Cat 3.1, 3.2, 3.4 and the shipping drivers. I have also tried 2.03 and 2.41 nforce drivers.
I have used 4 different fresh installs of WinXP. When I put in a Mx440 everything runs fine.
I have tried using AGP4x mode and Fast Writes are disabled.

Any help is appreciated.

What does it say in the event viewer about the error?

Tried 4x agp and fast writes is disabled, sorry I forgot to put that in my original post. the error message refers to the radeon 9500.

I have an Enermax 350w ps. I extra power cord is connected. The card is on it's own connector as well.

Don't use the SW ide drivers if you are

I'm gonna do another install tonight when I get home from work. I'll use the 2.42 nforce drivers, they have the Nvidia ide drivers remoced. Only takes about 30mins for a fresh install anyways.

Fixed, I set the bios to agp4x but the damn Cat drivers were forcing 8x. Works fine now, Desert Combat looks pretty again.
