Anyone know anything about the warranty and whether its dependable or not? Its a cute little double 2 AA maglite that I use all the time and it wont' worked. I tried changing the bulb and it woudn't work. If so where is this serial they ask me for in the warranty registration? Or should I just bring it somewhere to get it fixed?

last time my mini mag stopped working i popped that little black cover off and just pinched the little metal bulb holders so it made contact with the prongs on the bulb and it worked after that.

For one thing, there'd be no such thing as night.

Viper is correct. Get a nice flashlight and don't worry as much. Inova and ARC are alternatives.

i have a broken mini mag too..these things arent as 'tough' as they seem

theyre 7$ at walmart..the return shipping and hassle alone is more than that... buy yourself a inova x1 from ebay for 17$... i love mine. pretty as a flower, tough as a quartzite rock, and a single AA battery seemingly lasts forever... plus the white/blue spotlight is unbelievably cool

i've had two or three of those go out on me. i bought a real mag, the big one, silver. looks cool, and seems more solid.

I agree with the guys recommending the X1. I've got a bud who sells these Inova X1's online for $17 each Link to X1

I've got one and it is perfect for what I use it for (working inside computers, etc) and it uses a single AA battery.

just fix it yourself man..

i mean how hard is it to fix a flash light?..it's easier than reading a book .

c'mon man...
unless you can't reach inside and it's physically impossible to connect the loose connections, there should be really no problem.

btw, your alias is suitable for this thread title hehehe

The minimags are kind of weenie, but for a full size flashlight there is no other choice. They are waterproof, and hard to kill. Mine has a sword gash in it where this wannabe ninja took a swing at me and I blocked it.

Holy crap that doesn't sound believable. It is the honest truth though.

Let me guess, you opened up a window and the ninja went ballistic and tried to uppercut you but used a sword instead.

No, he wasn't a ninja, just a wannabe. And it was a door that I opened. There was no uppercut involved, just a quick swing with the sword and the sounds of the deflection of the blade off the flashlight. Then lots of swearing followed.

Mag. Pfft. The only "good" Mag light is the Mag Charger.

Some alternatives:

Pelican M6 Lithium powered light: Kind of like Surefire's lights, but much less expensive. As bright as a 4D Mag, but pocket-sized. Powered by 2 CR123 lithium camera batteries. Batteries last about 45-55 minutes of continuous use before dimming too badly. You need to order the batteries online for $1.00 to $1.25 each though. Those batteries are still $10-12 a pair in stores like Wal-Mart and Best Buy.

Princeton Tec Attitude 3 LED light: A perfect replacement for a mini-mag. Similar light output, but many hours of bright light available from 4 AAA alkalines.

There are many others, such as the CMG Infinity Ultra (1 AA, 1 LED, 11 hour run-time, aluminum body) and the ARC AAA (1 AAA, 1 LED, 5 hour run-time, aluminum body, 1/2 inch shorter than a Mag Solitaire).
